Which do you think will get you more promotional power when advertising on facebook. Facebook Fan Page likes (to go viral) or Opt In form sign ups on squeeze page?

A Fan Page has more promotional power.

But an Email List gives you more power in the long term.

It is a matter of choice and a matter of your niche as well.

I'm planning an fb campaign for an offer and I'm thinking that it would be too much if I ask for both (like and email sub) before they actually complete the offer.

So, I'm in between the two, FB like will show on their walls which will attract their FB friends to my page and so on and so forth but I won't really get their email addresses whereas if I only focus on getting emails on an iframed squeeze page, I'll get their contact info before directing them to the offer but the campaign will not go viral

It depends on individual, But i would focus on the FB likes first thereafter ask them to opt-in in one of your following posts.

Thanks for your insights. Here's my plan:

      1.) Ad
2.) Gateway Like (need to click for a bonus)
      3.) Opt-In
      4.) Free Offer download

When I got them on my email list however, should I focus on the niche, eg "lotto" or can I just generalize my "newsletter" on a more general, related niche like "money"?

Email subscribers are way more profitable than Facebook fans. Period.

However, Facebook fans can be turned into email subscribers in the future, so, if you have an interesting strategy to do it, your fans can be worth a lot as well.

Agreed. I personally find fans can be overrated, too many times I see people focus too hard on getting fans (or followers on twitter) opposed to sales/leads

My original plan was to Iframe everything on facebook but when people sub on squeeze page, I need to push them into confirming their subscription before handing the offer which means, I'm redirecting the confirmation link to the offer which is outside of the scope of iframe.

The idea is to make people comfortable with the offer as they're not leaving FB but I need them to confirm their email subscription right away so they won't forget confirming it.

For now, I'm waiting for approval, the setup was FB ad --> Fan Page w/ like gate towards iframed offer" but I really want to get their emails so might do some adjustments on the iframe tomorrow to capture emails. I just can't think of a way that will allow me to have them confirm their email subscription while redirecting them to the iframed offer as the thank you page.

Both. Get tons of likes then funnel them onto your list.
