Have You Thought About This Before?

If you wanted to learn something different to start promoting CPA offers, what would you do?

Would you buy a product, course?

Probably yes.

I won't say that it's wrong. Actually, I do buy products on a regular basis to get new ideas, so I believe it's totally fine. The question is: do you know any other way to learn different methods and find out what's working for other marketers?

We tend to see ourselves as internet marketers only, so we try to learn from products for IMers. What we often times ignore is the fact that we are consumers as well, and, as a consequence, many marketers target us with their campaigns.

All the time you're being bombarded by ads, promotions, etc and many of them are effective, but, if you are just like I was when I was getting started, you probably ignore them and learn nothing from what others are promoting to you.

So, start paying close attention to all the advertisements that you see. Pay attention to FB ads, AdWords ads, viral campaigns on Facebook, popular videos, mailing campaigns (even spams), etc...

If you start doing this, you will rapidly learn the secrets of the successful fan pages, YouTube Channels, mailing lists, etc... Instead of just looking for products to learn methods, try to "steal" ideas from the advertisements that you see on a daily basis.

It opened my mind for a whole new world of possibilities... give it a try, too!

Exactly, whenever I buy a marketing product, I always look at the quality of author's marketing to me.

That is the discussion maker for me.

Even when I was starting out, I tried my best to compare. It isn't that hard to tell.

Not saying there can be gems out there, but not too likely.

Hahaha... yes, that's true. Sometimes, we can learn more from the sales letter than from the product itself.

I love marketing and consumer psychology; it's the reason why I do this.

I love studying the dynamics in ads I see whether its print, direct-mail, tv commercials. Learning new ways to apply persuasion and copywriting; finding new angles, pushing boundaries and becoming better. Competing and beating the competition.

I guess I see this as a sport. Anyone else share a similar view?

I've never understood why more people don't think like this. So many people complain about struggling with PPC/Facebook/POF etc. Anyone can look at the ads that are displaying long term and then copy them as a startign point, and set up their own campaign to then further split test the ad to improve it even more.

    I know why people struggle.

They believe it's easy and that no effort to really understand a human and why they buy something is necessary. They figure if they slap up a campaign and learn all the technical stuff then it's easy street. That's so wrong on so many levels.

Marketing is not a new thing, it's been around for ages. The only thing that's different now is the medium and that's the only thing that changes. The basics are the basics and a lot of people will always fail because they refuse to put in the work before the campaign and refuse to believe that old school principles work very well and will for a long time.

    They want quick hits.

      Right.

People are ok with studying years to be a laywer, an economist, a doctor, etc... So why to believe that anyone can become a successful internet marketer with little effort and a simple method?

I totally agree that it'll improve your way of thinking as an Internet Marketer. However, we know we can't deny that everyone will need to do the tests before coming up with their winning formula.

Thanks for your eyes-opening post, Will.

Yes, sure, it's not just about copying. We shoudl pay attention to what others are doing to get new ideas, not to simply copy campaigns.
