Amount for paid adspace

Hello everyone!

I was wondering maybe someone here would have an idea of what is a good rate to charge for some ads on my site. My site is music related gets about 8000-11,000 page views per day, though sometimes it can be 14,000-16,000 depending if we have a good feature interview going. My unique daily hits are about 1100-1200..

Based on that, does anyone have a good idea of how much i should charge for adspace for basic ads on top of a page such as leaderboard side 720x90 or 468x60.. its a wordpress theme with adspace already built in it.. I want to be fair and reasonable obviously..So any input would be greatly appreciated.. I was thinking maybe weekly or monthly ads prices..

thanks!!

Truthfully, you can charge whatever you want; but at the end of the day it will lean towards what a buyer is willing to pay

Conventionally speaking however, you can find out what to charge (more or less) by actually running banner ads from ad networks or adsense on your site; then checking your Earning's CPM.

But I can tell you right now that banner ad earnings (not adsense) can be quite pathetic with CPMs of $1 and less. This isn't always the case... just my experience.

Pop ups, Pop unders, and Interstitials often pay more: $2.50 CPM and better. And depending on the Network, Interstitials can even fetch you $5.00 CPM. Just beware that they can be really annoying to your visitors.

Another route you might go is placing your site on places such as BuySellAds.com (a publisher/advertiser middle-man).

Of course, you can put in your own leg work and attract advertisers yourself. If you do decided to go after them yourself, then forget dealing with small potatoes and go straight for the Big Companies. Seriously.

Big companies have deep pockets and care about branding, not necessarily "X" amount of traffic.

    Wish you the best.

thanks for the reply, Jay! I have heard of buysellads. I will give that a shot.

The folks that will be buying adspace are mainly record labels and management com..

Cant use adsense since the previous owner of website was banned from adsense last September...

Will see how this buysellads goes..

If previous owner was banned from adsense, it's likely because he or she did something against their TOS.

You are now the new owner. You have nothing to lose by reaching out to the Google gods and asking them if you can apply. Just be sure the site is in compliance.

        Best!

Thanks. i should.. i have an active adsense acct.. But i am not using it because i too got one of my popular sites banned. the problem is i think with the current site and the reason the previous owner got banned is that in addition to the site having interviews with rock stars.. it also has interviews with adult film stars...but there was never any nudity but some of the shots that were used, they didnt like....

i just got an email from buysellads saying i was approved.. now i just gotta figure out how to use it haha..

          thx for the reply.

Typically you throw up some adsense and see what the traffic is worth that way then adjust your prices accordingly.

      Right.. that makes sense.. thx...

But since i took over the site, i have doubled the traffic so its probably worth alot more and it gets picked up by major news sites a few times a month.. so just trying to figure it all out..

i set up a buysellads acct a lil bit ago.. says i have to wait for site to be approved..

Ever thinking of using CPA network for your traffic? I guess with that amount of traffic you will have big chance to get conversion for offers..

someone else told me that, but honestly.. the only kind of ads and stuff i have run before are CJ.com, adsense and amazon.. thats all i am familiar with.....Right now i have nothing on it except ads for my own online store...

Is there a good CPA network/site that is worth joining?
