Best way to promote affiliate program

Hi all, hope I can get some info here related to promoting a new affiliate program we just launched at MorningCoach.com personal development site and support community . I actually saw that it was mentioned a few times in the Mind/Power/self-development section of this forum which is pretty cool. I wasn't sure whether or not to post in that forum but since my question is related primarily towards the promotion of our affiliate program, I would ask you all what would be the best way of getting the word out?

Should we focus more on the fact that it is a residual commission?
Are there certain places we should promote on?
More importantly, are there places we should AVOID promoting on?

We have worked many years on promoting positivity and self-development and are a little concerned about breaking the integrity of what we are working towards doing which is helping people improve their perspectives and therefore improve their lives.

And since we are new in affiliate marketing, we would like to do it properly the first time through.
