I was thinking about making a blog and was not sure how I should monetize it. I have heard people refer to adsense as "making pennies" in comparison to the money you could make with cpa and clickbank type products. Is there any truth to this? I was thinking that if you were using PPC traffic it may convert better with PPC ads vs CPA.

Hey, make a blog first and you will know how it can be best monetized, but first you should be working on traffic.

There is no problem you mix Adsense + CPA in one blog. But Adsense have the most strict rules among others and people often get their Adsense banned without knowing the reason. Adsense have the highest EPC compared to other PPC network, for some keywords you can only make 10% EPC on other networks compared to Adsense.

For adsense to make any real money on a blog you have to have good solid traffic and content that is fresh and well ranked. With the advent of so many tools to auto populate blogs many have taken a huge beating in the last couple of years as far as ranking and adsense profitability.

TheMadHatter was right though, start with the blog and then work from there. If you get a good niche and there are good products to promote you might do okay with CPA stuff or even revshare.

Speaking in terms of buying PPC traffic, CPA/Affiliate offers are much better choice than AdSense.

Overall, you can't say one is better than the other, but just different. It depends on your personal goals.

I'm not a fan of Adsense, I'd almost always use CPA offers over Adsense.

I agree with what Greedy said.

You can't really compare adsense with cpa since they're both the same things. I guess you should really try both out. Know what level of interactions your visitors are willing to have with you and go for the one that works the best!

You should have a blog first, drive good traffic to your blog. And test bit of both but make sure you are using them correctly.
