Questions about testing ads

Hi all,

If I have 20 ads to test on POF, do I

1) Test 5 ads at a time with wide range of age (25-65yrs) and spreading among the day (24hrs), and then split test the age range and day parting when I find the best CTR ads?

or

2) Test the 5 ads copy with different age range (eg, 25-35, 35-45, 45-55, 55-65 etc) 1st? This means I will be testing 20 ads at the same time.

Thanks for answering!!

You could go with the first option and from looking at the stats be able to see which age ranges generated the most clicks/conversions.

I'd go with option 2 on a place like Facebook where you don't really know exactly how old a person that clicks on your ads is.

Do you have a specific rule to follow when you are split testing?

      Eg,
      1)Age
      2)Colour of banner
      3)Font of text
      4)Borders on images

Think about messing with colors and fonts once you find an ad that works.

If you're split testing ads in the beginning, make them very different. Worry about the little details later on.

I typically do method 2, this lets me get lots of data very fast

You'll want to test all the ads at the same time.

But you'll want to make sure they all have the same targeting otherwise the data is not useful.
