Family&friends who don't support you

Hi,

A bit off-topic, but I was wondering if you guys had the same problems when you started working selfemployed.

Since a few weeks ago I finally started making really good money online and I wanna keep working on this. My family (and even friends) don't get it, they're totally against it and ask me every day when I'll finally look for a 'real job'. They know how much I've been making with it over the last few weeks (and they also know that it's much more than I could ever make in a normal job), but they don't care. They say 'Be happy that you were so lucky but look for a real job now'. This is really getting on my nerves, that nobody takes me seriously. I wanna keep working on my own projects, if I fail I can still look for a job.

Have you had the same problems with your family and friends? Did they finally accept that you're working for yourself or are they still bothering you with finding a 'real job'? Would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks!!

Yes, it took my family a long time, and they are still not over it I feel.

Don't worry about it too much, do you live with them?

When you can afford to move out things get a lot easier!

Dude, we're both in the same path before but in my situation, i'm making them a fool, they don't believe that i'm earning $500-1k everymonth for writing articles online or freelancing. And they're laughing at me! ahahahha, lol. Well, now, i don't care i will be earning much than this per month and at the moment, i will laugh to them.

Btw let's get back to the topic! It's not your loss, it's theirs! don't mind them bro -_- pessimistic persons have no space in our world. Just don't mind them! They'll be asking you for tutorial, guides etc, when you earn some real money. Just like what happened to Greedy!

Ask her or read his short story in her blog Right greedy? ahaah! About me, i don't care of them! I only mind my own business.

No one care about me as long as I could earn and support myself!

P.S: This thread should be in the off-topic section!

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

It is very difficult for an "Internet civilian' to understand the concept of making money online. Sure, they might shop online and have heard of the larger companies. But they cannot wrap their brains around the idea that you, someone they know, can do the same thing.

If you make money and don't need financial support from them, eventually they will see you living a "normal" life, paying rent, having a car, etc. Before long they will recognize that you own your own business.

My family loves it. They see the money I make and are pretty proud of it. I'm currently going to school and finishing up my degree in Mechanical Engineering and I make more now than I ever will as an engineer.

I had a very hard time with my family accepting this. They were very skeptical thinking it was a scam or illegal and that I was either wasting my time or doing something illegal eventually they came around, but it took time.

Keep doing what you love doing. You're already seeing success. Just keep in mind, if you don't give, one day you'll become BIG and I'd love to see those faces who didn't support you.

When I started making enough to give up my ‘day job’ to do what I love doing, no one took me seriously UP UNTIL I started really earning. I have only recently started making serious money but when they see that it pays better than a ‘regular’ job no one gives me a hard time. Plus I don’t care. Its not like they pay my bills!

just keep moving on what you are doing buddy as long as you earn a living yourself!!
A saying from Apple founder steve jobs “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
