Life of a marketer, How I started, made $1200 a day and then lost everything!

I hope those who struggle to make money online get something from this, I just wanted to tell my story since none of my friends and family really understand what I do and I wanted to get your feedback on it. I just turned 20 a few days back and was thinking how Internet marketing might have really changed my life.

I have been working online for more than 4 Years, I come from a lower middle class family. It all started because I wanted to buy a bike.

I started at the times when poker games on Facebook were really big, I remember I wanted to buy a yamaha bike but my parents couldnt afford it at the time. So one night well trying to figure out what to do, I read on a forum about content lockers and something just clicked in my mind and I started creating fake apps for those game that would give them more chips.

I would then upload them to a blog and then locked them with content locker. To send traffic I just created a fake webpage where they would have to like, share and leave 10 comments everywhere to get the app. The thing went viral within days and I was making $700-$1200 a day on autopilot.

Heck! At that point I didn't even Know what a domain I was, I did all of this on blogspot.

Soon enough Facebook caught up with me and I was banned. If I wanted I could have done that again, but I wasn't really happy knowing I was just cheating people out.

After that I struggled a bit and lost some money here and there and got into youtube (free traffic) and did really good with it to a point where I was making more than $3000+ a month on autopilot. Ofcourse until all the updates hit. I lost my videos, my 30+ accounts were banned and there were some legal notices sent to my address. It was a devastating time for me.

I did not have patience to redo the videos and then learn the new strategy.I wanted some thing that had real science, something that I can study and expand on my own terms.

After being stuck and trying things here and there, I got into wsos. I decided to release wso's and training people on how I was making money with youtube.

There was only one problem. I was not a good copywriter, I did not have a list and did not attend any events to get any good connections.

But I decided to jump in anyways, I figured whats the worst could happen. After launching wso's and training private students, upto a point they were making more than me a month with youtube.

My WSO's did really well and I was starting to build a list and some connections but again. I was not happy doing it!

I was happy for them but not for me, I did not enjoy doing wso's, It just didnt feel right. Writing emails, convincing people,, trying to think of new ways to create a wso etc. I just couldn't do it. It was making me money but I was not happy doing it. Thats when I decided to go into paid traffic.

The Paid Traffic Experts and stories kinda pushed me towards it. I watched all the videos on his blog, read all his articles and found that it is something I could do.

Again I was just jumping in thinking whats the worse that could happen. It happened. Initially I lost over $1000+ in my first month. There were many mistakes and for those starting off, Here they are..

1. Jumping into every traffic network out there. Dont do this. Choose one and find out as much information as possible about it. Gain experience and make connections.

2. Buying all sorts of tools, For some reason I have 3 types of paid traffic tracking system out of which I only use CPVlab. Get one, doesn't matter which and get used to it cause you will be spending a lot of time there.

3. Buying everything gurus recommend. I paid for leadpages for a year worth without any reason because a guru recommended it on a webinar. Now that I look back it was the stupidest decision I have ever made. Not because it is bad, Its a great piece of software. Its just that I don't have any need for it.

These are the 3 tips I can give you guys who are just starting off and struggling.

So after losing so much money and having absolutely no bank balance, everything I did now would be a HUGE RISK!

I had to take every step carefully, so after lot of research and reading the 3 things above said by every guru on every forum, blogpost etc. I decided to go with 7search. The only goal to work with 7search was to see which niche interested me most and get the experience of how to calculate all the cpm and cpc and all that stuff.

Now after having experience with 7search and seeing how I created and manage to convert 3 campaigns into +roi, I finally have decided my niche and have decided to finally get started with adult media buys.

The reason being, I want something which is fast and has volume. Now I have understood that even if I make 60% roi but its a good volume. I can make a lot of money daily. Something all the newbies should keep in mind.

For the start I will be running traffic from adxpansion and will keep everyone posted how that goes.

There were many ups and downs in the middle and some really major learning experiences but overall I think internet marketing has made me a much better person.

Ever since I have started Internet marketing I have become self dependent and I am also helping taking care of my family. Whereas other kids my age are still just throwing off there parents money into partying and stuff.

Internet marketing has given me a purpose.

Have a great day!

Very inspiring and valuable! I have a decided that adult media buying is one of my biggest interest as well. Getting my feet wet in this area too as we speak.

Just my biggest road block is to invest sufficient money into it, money that I don't have. That's scary to me.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the share.

I have been using 7search with a cpa network and started to convert pretty well, but i am also exploring other verticals using the same ad platform.

I generally test 2-3 ad networks and do as you say -just really focus on them hardcore until you understand everything and optimising and watch your tracking stats, i am currently using prosper202 but also looking to upgrade to cpv lab- all in due course!!

    thanks again
    :-)

Great story. Shortcuts and scamming people never works though, (which you've learned).

Go for the big stuff, Health, Wealth and Relationships.

That's long term and you can really build and scale those niches.

Very nice story, Ayush, thanks for sharing!
I was also struggling a lot at the beginning till I found the lead generation. So I am very familiar with the downsides of this business. However no matter how many times I failed, before I get successful, I always tried to find something positive and to think about the money I lost as an investment!
