Massive Traffic Drop overnight !

I just experienced a huge traffic drop overnight. Two days ago I added a number of affiliate banner ads to my site... clickbank& peerfly offers. Then after a huge traffic day.... suddenly the next day down big time. I discovered that Google hates these ads so it is more than likely that I am getting punished. What is the proper process for getting back in their good graces ? I pulled the ads and re-submitted a new site-map. It was a simple mistake on my part but I doubt they care much now. Any ideas ? :confused:

    Was the traffic actually coming from Google, I agree, they don't like ads like that, however, I doubt something like that would cause such a significant drop in rankings if you had any.

    How long have you been promoting these offers with this traffic source? Often certain days or nights on some traffic sources and niches have a spike or drop

      Most all of my traffic comes from Google and my rankings. The site has been growing steadily. I am on first page allot. I just checked statcounter and only found one visitor path from Google. This is very troubling .....

        I am getting conflicting messages in webmaster Tools. Under sitemaps, it shows 3012 pages indexed. Under the Google index tab when I click index status to see the data ...... there are NO pages indexed. WTF is going ON ??? It is a huge site with lots of followers and regular users.

    I have a site, which i use for testing. I have a inane amount of cb links on it (site wide) ... and I have pretty decent rankings for med to high comp keywords.

    This is a small site (less than 10 pages).

    If you have kept logs on the site, you can go back to see if you may have lost one of your links which gave your site a lot of link juice.

    It could be a host of possibilities.

    It seems that you're penalized from Google. The only way to get your rankings back is to check the backlink profiles and try looking for patterns.

    You can use Google's Disavow tool to kill the links you think harm your domain the most.

    1. Find the links that harm your domains
    2. Disavow them
    3. Try to build new links to get better diversity

    I'm sorry to tell, but, that's what happens when you depend on SEO traffic too much. And like my friend has always said;

    Google Doesn’t Owe You A Living, So Don’t Depend On It
