Google Analytics vs. 202/CPV Lab

Is there anyone here who uses Google Analytics to track conversions?

What advantages/drawbacks do you find between this and an affiliate solution like CPV Lab or 202?
#202 or cpv #analytics #google #lab

The only thing I don't like about relying on Google Analytics is now I'm giving google my conversion stats... call me crazy, but I don't like Google to know how I'm making my money. In addition I like the raw data that I can view/analyze in P202 vs the summarized, non-specific details available in Analytics. Just my 2cents.

Full disclosure: I've never used Google Analytics.

I will say though, that for CPA it's important to have raw, very specific data on your campaigns. The more granular you can get in your analysis, the tighter you can optimize your campaigns.

I really don't know of anybody who GA on their CPA campaigns.

What exactly is raw data? I've read definitions of it but don't really understand what the term means when applied to IM and tracking.

And what does G Analytics use instead of raw data?

I mean that you can see all the stats for each individual click. You can group them, and organize them etc. For example, you can see that a conversion came from a click at 5:56 PM, from the keyword "ipad", from ad copy "B"...

So you can't track this granularly with G Analytics?

Personally I only use analytics for my seo or larger site. I use p202 for most of my campaigns. Cpvlab has much more tracking options but comes with a price.

  • I'm sure with simple basic affiliate tracking needs you could maybe manage with just GA because there is an overlap in functionality.

However, there are a few thing's you'd miss out on, two quick examples are

    1. GA doesn't have postback url support. This is pretty essential for accurate tracking of conversions especially on mobile.

    2. GA doesn't have redirect urls, if you ever have to change an offer you have to manually change all your destination urls. With tracking software, you'd just make a change in one spot.
