Test by time or Impressions?

I was wondering if you could help me with a specific matter.
My question is regarding testing ads on POF:
What do you think it's better:
To test creatives by time? I mean, to test them during a specific period of time and then ged rid of the losers?

Or, to test ads by the number of their impressions? For instance, to pause any ad that would reach 3000 impressions with CTR below 0.100.

Which method, in your opinion, would be a better indicator regarding the quality of the creative?

I personally test by money spent..
I test each variable (ad variation, targeting options, etc) for a fixed amount of $

Lol Dave, everybody is going to have their own process. What's important is that you have a factor with it.

    My process is by impressions.
Chris' process is by money spent.

They're both fine it's just two different ways of doing things. But you need to find something that works for you. Testing by days is just too unpredictable for most. Like I said, you could have 10,000 impressions in 3 days or 2,000 impressions in 3 days. You could spend $5 or $25 in 3 days. It all depends on the creative, variations, etc.

You just need to find something that works for you. Everybody has a different process and is likely to tell you something different.

    My answer is both, kinda.

I usually stop an ad after around 1-2k impressions if it doesn't hit my goal CTR. But if it's pretty close to my goal CTR, then i might run it for a bit longer to see if it improves.

Lets say your goal CTR was 0.1% and your ad, after 1k impressions, got a CTR of 0.085%. It's pretty close to your goal CTR... Should you keep running it? Maybe it does better during certain parts of the day or week? Is it a waste of time? What if it works?

These are questions I used to ask myself when I first started, lots of "What ifs".

Like Sonixkid3000 said, everyone does their own thing. As you gain experience with running ads, you'll see what works and what doesn't work and you'll be able to rely on your own intuition.

David, let me ask you a question.

At what point do you make a decision on what advice to follow from this thread?

      a) after the thread has been active for a certain amount of time.
      b) after a certain amount of people have viewed the thread.
      c) After enough people have posted their advice that you see a pattern emerge.

And if no one was to answer this thread, at what point would you forget about it and post a new question?

My test usually goes like this

    1. Cut ads after 1500 impression if no click.
    2. Cut ad if not converting after 10 clicks

The image that has good CTR today may not perform well tomorrow, keep 6 to 9 good CTR ads and rotate them. PM me if you need more help ...
