How much would this make?

Hey everybody! A friend of mine recently asked me how much his blog would make. I'm not an expert so i'd love if you could help me. He gets an average of 1500 unique users and 5000 page views a day, with 40% returning visitors. Do you think it would be better to use CPC or CPM? What ad networks would you use? And how much could he make? Thanks a lot!
#ad networks (cpm/cpl, display) #ads #advertising #cpc #cpm #make
  • try adsense, and if its returning visitors that makes the number everyday then that would work well
Else maybe he can try related CPA Offers.
    Buysellads.com works well as well

    • Hi Aeroo! thanks for your response! Actually he'd like to keep the ads less intrusive as possible, so i was thinking about CPM..? And how much are we talking about? Thanks!

  • Yeah, he doesn't want to bother much the user experience, that's why i suggested CPM.

    • Ye but in order to have ads advertiser in general needs to make profit so he will need clicks as well. Both methods do work but if traffic is low quality you won't get high cpc/cpm

      Thanks,
      Johnny
  • It all depend on your blog niche. If you have health niche then you can try both cpa+ adsense, or if you have a gaming blog then you should give cpa offers a try to make big money.
  • The user base is young, 14-18. It's not a certain niche, it's more like a general forum than a blog. How much could he make with Adsense alone? I'm sorry, I know that it's really hard to say without much information!
    Thanks!
  • where is the traffic from? what country?

  • We can't give a decent estimate without seeing the site, it is near impossible. Even after knowing the site Adsense can still fluctuate a ton month per month.

You best bet is to accept Adsense IS a great way to monetize a website, and you will only know how well it works for you if you test. So take time to test.

    • Yeah that's what i thought! I told him to test it but he doesn't want to because he is afraid that returning visitors won't enjoy the site experience anymore, so he wanted to know if it was worth it before...
  • If you can get ads that are relevant to the content of your friends blog then you can earn a significant amount of money. I think in this case CPC would be just as good as CPM. It's not exactly true that CPM ads tend to be less intrusive. All advertisers want their ads to be noticed, so choosing one over the other won't actually provide him with the advantages he is looking for.

Basically, try both, and then stick to whichever pays more.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • It all depends on what the site's topic is and how competitive the niche is for advertisers. But I suggest your friend makes content like reviews / demonstrations of relevant affiliate products, if possible in the niche, and monetizes like that.
  • Less intrusive would mean no banner ads at all. There is no difference to the visitor between CPM banners and Adsense. They just pay the webmaster via two different methods, per 1k impression or CPC.

If he wants to keep his site as clean as possible, then affiliate links would be the only way of going about this. Cover a topic, suggest a service/product with 1-3 affiliate links suggested throughout the article. This would be the only "less intrusive" route.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
