A question for all of the PPV "experts".......

Greetings,

I'm using PPV to build my list, so I can promote my own products.

When starting out, how many URL's should I attempt to gather while I'm A/B split testing my squeeze page?

Thanks.

Start out with 30-50 urls that actually bring in traffic according to your PPV network. Test these urls to see which ones sign up to your opt-in form, dismiss the ones that don't, then add 20-30 more.

The problem with 30-50 URLs is that they won't bring in much traffic. You're probably talking about a few views a day unless you are targeting HUGE sites.

I'd rather start out with 3k URLs and set my daily budget to something like $10/day and weed out the sites that send lots of traffic but don't convert instead of only having a few URLs and constantly having to add more sites.

Get as many URL's as you can. You never know which might lead to a conversion

    Thanks.

    I start with 10-20 URLs.

Also make sure you setup your monetization plan for the list, things like having your follow up emails ready to go (lots of people seem to make this mistake.) If you don't try to monetize right off the bat you won't know how profitable a URL is.

You'll be blindly spending money to get emails without knowing the quality. I've made this mistake when starting out, and I see other do it like I mentioned.

    Good luck!

There are partial truths here to what Greedy & I state and to what James states. If you have 30-50 urls, you want to make sure they are fairly high traffic URLs under 100k Alexa, but preferably under 50k alexa ranking. Were not talking about low volume targets here.

You DO NOT want to grab 3k urls with some of those urls being high traffic. There are many reasons for this. However, if those urls are very low traffic, receiving only a few impressions per week....this would make sense, however starting a new campaign with a lower number of higher traffic, highly targeted URLs is where you want to start for more promising ROI from the very beginning of your campaign.

Remember, you don't even know if a target or your offer converts well at the beginning of a campaign, so why would you spend all your time scraping 3k urls, which you HAVE to look through manually for relevance, to only find that the offer doesn't convert that well? Believe me, I've been on both sides of the fence and it sucks.
You should only be scraping large amounts of urls when you have a campaign already profitable with the higher traffic targets you originally use. That way you know that the offer your running is a high converting offer, so if you spend your time scraping and looking through thousands of targets, it may be worth your time.

Stick to 20-50 urls that are highly targeted and receive a decent amount of traffic (under 50k alexa) and you'll be set. This will give you a great assessment of whether the offer will be a profitable one, without spending all your time initially on manually checking over so many urls.

It really depends on how much traffic the URL's get.. I'll start with 30-40 and see if the traffic comes in, if it comes in too fast, i'll pause a few, if it comes in too slow i'll add another 10-15..
