POF - How Many Images Do You Test?

My account got banned from FB for no reason and now switched to POF. Had great success with FB, but finding it a challenge with POF. Getting there, but it's a tedious process :-)

My question is how many creatives would you test, images specifically before you take those few winning images then test them in different banner designs (font color, borders etc...)

These are the 300x250. I have one out of 31 I tested that has a .238%CTR statistically significant.

So I paused that ad and uploaded another 51 creatives, same design but different images.

Or is this just a never ending process?

It's never ending. Unlike what you probably hear, very few campaigns, especially on PoF end up being auto-pilot. You'll get some great performing ads, but eventually CTR will drop and you will need to upload more to keep that CTR and performance going.

I start a small test on banners with around 10 to gauge the baseline performance of the offer, then scale up if the campaign seems like it will work. Then I'll add 25 or so, and if it hits it big, you might be testing 100+ new banners a week.

Ok cool thanks man. Would you take the winners and re-create them in different style banners (borders, backgrounds) or just keep testing new images with same style banner?

You could only really test 100 a week with a very broad campaign, no?

Yes, although PoF is a great testing spot for display sources like Sitescout, where you can test 100 banners in an hour .

    never ending process
you have to understand your campaigns and CTR will eventually drop off and need to start brand new campaign and banner/LP, just make sure when you are making positive ROI try to bank as much as you can

A good profitable campaign can last like 4 days to 1 week

A/B/C Split test. Test three different overall styles. Take the winner, and create another style that is slightly different from the winner. Then replace another with a totally different style again. Do this over and over until you feel that no matter the change you make, you wont' be able to squeeze any more out of it to be worth you or your staffs time.

It is never ending. Like Justin and other have said you should take your winner and make more like it variation of it, you always must be trying to push CTR upward.

I always advise my clients to go with testing 10-20 plain images(depending your budgets) with no-effects, styles on them...than after getting enough impressions to decide the winners, take the first(or first 3) than alter the image with different borders, image effects and on. That's the best approach for a good CTR.

My tool(in the signature) will help you achieve the styling/bordering part..take a look.

As many as you can.. I try to start with 5-10.. then expand from there..
Your budget will also dictate this along with how many ad variations you can test

Appreciate the feedback. Everything what you've said I figured, however just wanted to see what the more experienced guys and gals with POF have done in terms of standard protocol.

I'm in the health niche, specifically muscle-building and finding it very hard to create some winning ads with CTR's at least .2 or more.

aiming for .2 CTR on POF is not impossible but might be hard getting to that
if you bring good ads and copy you can make the offer work with .1+ CTR
(if the offer is good and your LP is good)
        soo many variables

Yeaa I get ya. It's my own product and it's selling via VSL. Been tested too on FB and was profitable then they shut me down :-)

          And converted for affiliates too.
