My First Teespring Campaign

Hello fellow warriors! I just launched my first teespring campaign. I'm currently promoting it through Facebook. I've only spent $0.95 with 21 website clicks, 0 sales. My audience is 9,000. I'm planning to spend $5 per day. Any tips to make this work? Here's my current campaign:

    Hey guys, I see you all getting all this insane CTR, can someone give me tips on how you achieve that? For example

    - Do you use right side or newsfeed ad? or both?
    - Do you use manual bid or auto?
    - Do you target mostly males or females?

    Any other tip will be much appreciated. I tried with very little success so far, but I want to continue testing.

      - I use both righthand side and newsfeed ads.
      - I use OCPM. Don't use manual bid.
      - It depends on your campaign. I'm only targeting females this time since I'm selling a shirt for females.

      It would all depend on your targeting, ad images, and ad copy. My audience is only 9,000 but it's laser targeted.

          On average I spend $50~70 for every $300 I earn..which is about 30 sale. The campaign itself is usually gives me 500% ROI or higher, however I run many many campaigns to test what niche reacts better, so after factoring in those ads that do not work my Total ROI cost vs profit is about 300% to 400%


          It seemed like you know enough to really get started. I usually give it to $20 to test. Most importantly is always pay attention to cost vs sales. Don't get blinded because you made a sale very quickly. I had 7 sales on my first campaign in 1 hour, was so happy then the sale stopped for next 6 days learned a valuable lesson since then!

          One thing I strongly recommend is NOT do the name campaigns you see online. They will quickly get your account in trouble with FB!

            I am still not sure. I see a lot of people using custom audience and stuff by scraping UID, but is this allowed or not?

            What scraper tools are available.

            Also, why would it be against Facebook TOS to do name campaigns? I mean we're not scamming people, we're selling real shirts! And these are shirts closely related to them. And why would it be against Facebook TOS to scrape the opengraph search? It's just an effective way to target people that will both benefit us and Facebook...

              Its the fact we use "bots" to do so. Open graph search puts a strain on Facebook, I believe once you scrape over 5k UIDs your account will be flagged and they will start monitoring you.

              And using dummy acc doesn't work as they will look at your IP address and ban all your acc all together.

              There are ofcrs many ways to get around this, however I rather spend my time looking into better conversion technique than trying to bend the rules

      I'm using 665x225 for newsfeed and 600x315 for the right hand side. It fits perfectly with these dimensions. Try it!

    Also, to do a news feed ad do I have to have a Facebook page for that ad?

    How do I get people to click through to teespring instead of liking or shareing the Fb page?

    Should I even bother creating any content on the FB page etc?

      You need Fan page to do newsfeed,

      once you upload your photo for newsfeed it will automatically make it into a righthand side ad as well

      Getting them to click website instead of liking depend solely on your ad image and hook, try to have call to action in your description like "CLICK to buy now"

      FB page depends on how likely you think you can scale long term with that page. Some of mine I keep updating because I know I can sell multiple shirts to them

    Update: I haven't had my second sale yet! HAHAHA

    But I'm still on green! I've spent $2.85 on Facebook ads so far. And I'm earning $7 per shirt. I already scaled up my campaign to $5 per day from $2 per day to get more traffic! Let's see how it goes!

      Target usually through Scraping, sometimes I will set extremely specific restrictions for some super niche shirt. Still testing which ones work better general vs super niche.

      Keep at it, not all campaigns work but for sure every single one of them will teach you something!

    So I guess Name shirts won't work on Facebook! I wonder how some of those name shirts on Teespring promote their shirts. I see some name shirts have over 500 shirts sold. Hmmm...

      OP, I just had the same thing happen to me....audience was disabled for using first names. Gonna try something else. My CTR for that shirt campaign was 14% too! crazy high! Back to testing- and lesson learned!

          Nah, thank god. The next ad took a little longer to get approved once my audiences were disabled though... Gotta be a bit more careful from here on out. LOL

    I really don't understand how you guys can achieve 10%+ CTR.

    I already use super-targeted, scraped auidence (I use Facesniper)
    I include a good call to action image (an image of a big buy now button)

    And I still get 3% CTR of my best campaign. I guess there is something else you guys are doing. I'd be very happy if you can give tips on that.

    Edit: I find out that some of the guys including OP use "engagement" to measure it. I'd like to know how it effects to website clicks since visitors need to find and click the website link right-hand side.

      Its just depends on how good your scrape is

      You can also apply more restriction in the FB ad set up page, like age, gender, location, etc.

      Also image try to use one that links to the authentic brand as close as possible , that will hit 7%+ 99% of the time

        I don't think I'd have a problem with the scrape however I am not completely clear on restrictions.

        I usually do 16+ age, live in USA, sex, and I use scraped people (don't select interest etc). How do you restrict them for increased CTR?

        And do you do post engagement?

          16+ age? I usually do 25+. People below 20 yrs old normally do not have credit cards. Don't just upload your custom audience. You would need to optimize the targeting by uploading your custom audience then select age, interests, gender, etc.. For example, for the name that I targeted, some of the users that were scraped are men. I'm selling a shirt for women so I selected women in my FB ads.

                My CTR is between 1-3%. I use a link for my ad with a custom made image(t-shirt, buy now button, exclusive design stamp etc) and with Facebook's "Buy Now" frame.

                The highest of my campaigns, even the name ones didn't have more than 3%.

                  Hmmm... I'm not really sure about that. Maybe they don't like the design of the shirt? I'm running another campaign and I'm getting around 8.9% CTR. $1.56 spent on Facebook ads as of now. No sales yet.

      I'm using some awesome image templates that I've made myself. I'm planning to release it as a WSO soon but don't know how to make a WSO yet. hahaha But I'm getting there. I'll let you know then...

    one thing I learned when scraping UIDs is that I always scrape comments, not likes. liking doesnt take any effort while commenting takes a bit more time usually, so in my book those who comment are really passionate about the topic, they are actively engaging, not just window shopping but actually entering the store .

    I will recommend that you get better tools for building custom audience. Some of the free online tools are like there name "Free" and with this you will not expect to get anything better apart from what you are seeing now happening to your campaign I will suggest that you get something that will really give you results.

    I'm having a problem. I'm using gimp 2.0 graphic software to edit a picture to upload on to the t-shirt but when I upload the picture it has a white background on it on to the t-shirt.

    I tried making the background transparent in gimp then uploading it but it doesnt work.

    anyone know a fix?

      Use this site: clippingmagic.com

      It removes backgrounds and makes them transparent. Super easy.

      You need to save it as .png file after removing the background. I'm using Photoshop by the way. Hope this helps!

    hey guys i'm having an issue where I upload the image to the t shirt and make it transparent and it works fine and blends in and then when I proceed to the next page where you pick your goal and price for the t shirt, it brings back the white background on the image of the t shirt and takes away the transparency. Can anyone speak to this issue?

    You can tell from the difference in this picture that there is a white background around the image at the top, thats what I am talking about.

    Whats with your signature? You say you can get 30% CTR with 0.01 CPC but it doesn't look like thats the case here?

    Anyways i think your current CTR is great. I would scale this up and make some bank.

      I said "get AS MUCH AS 30% CTR and AS LOW AS $0.01 CPC". Those are the max I normally achieve. Those are not guaranteed since it varies per niche and competition, but those are the best stats I can get. Here's one:

    I just focus on ROI. Sometimes HIGH CTR draws unnecessary attention from Facebook.

    Here's the result of my new test. 7 sales so far after spending $31.99 on Facebook ads. I'm earning around $7.5 per shirt. So I'm still on Green. I know it's not a great campaign but it just shows that Teespring and Facebook ads actually work.

        It's based on the competition. If many people are bidding for the same niche or set of people, it will make your oCPM high. So you need to keep your CTR high as well to keep your cost low.

      Anyway, I'm not using a custom audience here. I found a way to target them using the normal Facebook interest targeting.

      You'll definitely do good in Teespring then since you can design your own shirt campaigns. One thing to keep in mind, keep the number of colors of the shirt graphics from 1 to 3 colors. The cost of the shirt goes up as you add more colors into the graphics, which will either cut your profit or raise your selling price.

      The campaigns I showed in this thread were actually using interest targeting. They all worked well for me. I normally get 150% ROI. But those are small niches. So I was only getting around 25 sales out of 10 goals. Custom Audience didn't work for me. It would work for a few days then gets rejected.

        Ahhh cool, glad to know that the Interest Targeting works well. I've not had luck yet with it including a campaign I have now for a sports team that's not generated a sale as of yet. Still hoping to find those Interests that really draw people to buy shirts.

        I'm still not bold enough to target goals higher than 20 and even that's a stretch as the highest so far I have is 11/10 and it seems my FB ads haven't been showing for that campaign at all today so thank goodness it tipped over before this is going on. No error or alert yet for that ad either oddly enough but it is a name campaign so I'm fearing FB may finally shut that ad down... the other ads are running fine though at this point.

        I would really love to be able to find that "Magic Formula" that generates lots of shirts per day with minimum ad spending. Still don't know the interest I need to target for that to happen as of yet though. Still brainstorming lol

          Hey man! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I find it hard to target the sports niche in Facebook. It might be hard to target the avid fans of sports team in my opinion since everybody on Facebook normally just "likes" pages/posts related to sports simply because one of their friends shared it, or probably just wants to look that they're into sports (lol), etc...

      The best tip I can give you is to find a really good niche! I'm seeing campaigns with really bad shirt designs but they still sell well because they're into a good niche! Of course, you have to target them good enough in Facebook as well.

The past few days i have done nothing but research and learn what methods are out there, what works and what doesn't and basic terminology.                   You might have read it somewhere else. I can't remember talking about Scrapebox. Also, custom audiences no longer works in some niches, specially targeting names and birth years. I'm now into interest targeting.

          I've already had 5 campaigns with no results at all, well one campaign had 1 sale, but was actualy the only one with custom audience, related to Game of Thrones, so i guess custom audience is a much more laser targeted audience than regular targeted audience will ever be.

          My biggest problem was always the price for clicks, and CTR (never higher than 0.5%), even with custom audience, the lower clicks to website so far was 0.20 cts.

          Question goes for globalexperts, do your Ads have pictures of wateva niches you
          are in, besides the tshirt itself?
          I've learned from a few gurus, most have the Desktop Ads with a picture or a photo that is directly related to the niche, band, singers, movies, fishing, hunting, sports, wateva, and the tshirt itself.

          From what i've seen you don't have anything but the tshirt alone, is that right? just a call to action with the shirt.

            Hmmm... You do have a very poor CTR. Make sure that you're only running newsfeed ads for both mobile and desktop. It seems like you're running a right column ad. I sometimes use a relevant picture other than the shirt like what you've learned from the other gurus. It just depends on the niche and shirt that I'm selling.

However, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because the "Like Page" button is not showing up on the upper right hand and how do you set it to where when someone clicks on the add it takes them straight to the teespring sales site? Mine currently just opens up the post and it would require them to click the link on the ad to take them to the sales site.

      That is because you are using a post engagement campaign. You must use either website clicks or website conversions if you want to send them directly to your Teespring campaign.

        Even when I chose that option, my community page that I have it on does not show the "like Page" button. But when I it on another community page, it will work.

    biding on CPC like: Suggested bid: 1.44 (0.88 - 2.21)

    And you bid $2.00, i guess it will have the same effect for CTR for FB and the CPC will get down
    and i assume that the click will be at 0.05 or a little bit higher, or perhaps lower.

    Cause i can seem to find a way to get the CPC lower than that when i'm creating the Ad, with 300.000
    or 2 milion, it never showed me any less than 0.30, i just want to know if it would work the same way.

    any help would be appreciated

      I normally just use OCPM. I don't mind the cpm or cpc that much. I'm more into conversions.

        Are you still receiving the same results with Teespring lately? I've had some recent success selling targeted accessories from a personal website but want to try alternate methods. I'm great with picking out niches, just need some validation as to whether or not Teespring + Facebook is still lucrative and not overdrawn. Thanks.

    Yes, it's been very lucrative for me of late. The only problem I'm having is as soon as I post a winning design to my active pages and people start seeing sales rolling it, it's being copied. They make a slight change or two to the design and start selling it as their own. I'm still making a lot off of money off of some of my designs, but they don't have the longevity they used to.

    I've learned my lesson and will no longer be using live posts on my pages, even though they get good organic reach. I'm going with dark posts from now on, which should keep my shirts secret for at least a little while longer while I milk them for all they're worth.

      I find it easier to get more sales before than now. But I'm honestly spending less time on Teespring lately since I'm busy working on another project.

      I agree with you completely! Those guys who keep on copying others' designs are really annoying! hahaha!

    That's a decision only you can make. If you think you can pick a niche and create a unique design that tugs at the heartstrings of that niche, then by all means, go for it. I will say this. I was hesitant to get into the T-Shirt market, but I'm glad I did. It's allowed me to bank enough money to start exploring other avenues like paying to build a list and marketing other physical products on Facebook.
