Teespring Competition Spying Tip

Hey guys,

Teesping is a huge success right now, and I know there are tools out there to see what your competition is doing, especially Teeview | Teespring campaign viewer

But I figure nothing is ever too much. So I'd like to give you guys a little Google search string I use to find out teespring campaigns that have the characteristics I want to.

To be completely fair, I took this string idea from Jack Duncan, if I'm not wrong, who used this for a totally different application, but the concept is pretty much the same

For example:

site:teespring.com " 20..99999 sold towards goal of 10..99999" "ended on */14"

With this string I will find only campaigns that sold 20 units or more, that ended this year.

Just to illustrate a little better,

If i wanted to find, say, campaigns that sold between 50 and 65 shirts, which had a minimum sales goal of 30 and ended last month, I'd use this string:

site:teespring.com "50..65 sold towards goal of 30..99999" "ended on *4/14"

Sales numbers can tell you a lot about scalability of a campaign, when you infer the audiences and angles that could be taken with a given design concept.

Have fun!

Aaand nobody can share their teespring screenshots anymore. I guarantee you majority of people are gonna use this to steal peoples campaigns.

    Glad you guys like it.

Well.. unfortunately, there are always going to be people stealing other people ideas. There's no way to run away from this.

Let me make this clear, though: I am NOT telling anyone they should steal other people designs.

They should see what's working and build on it. Heck, do it better, even. At least you know something that has worked.

Anyways, the most important part of the puzzle is gonna be missing: the targeting.

A copier can copy the greatest design ever, but he won't sell a single piece to the wrong audience.

Lee suggests: Use your new acquired super powers to good only! lol

Someone asked me how to narrow this down even further. Just add whatever your niche is to the beginning of the string:

niche site:teespring.com "50..65 sold towards goal of 30..99999" "ended on *5/14"

Right now teespring campaign owners can able to hide their campaign from search engines and spy tools so it's hard to find the campaigns now.

sure, just change the end of the string, like this:

niche site:teespring.com "50..65 sold towards goal of 30..99999" "ended on *5/14"

"ended on *5/14" gives me results of may, 2014
"ended on *11/13" gives me results from november, 2013

    and so on.

    @sureshpeters
true that, but, still, you can see many sellers don't do that, and, as far as I can tell, the old campaigns are still there. You can see multiple successful campaigns from 2014 and 2013 that could give you some great ideas

      Glad you guys are enjoying.

If you play with the search string you can find some "hidden" information... like, getting a campaign that sold 20 to 50 units in a niche you know should sell more is a great opportunity.

Try to figure out who bought the t-shirt and the why. Then, based on that, do something better and with better targeting. If 40 people bought something that isn't very targeted, guess what... if you target it deeper, it should perform a lot better!

Let us all go and make some money!

      Cheers

Great tip! I will definitely use this. I have a question though if you or anyone doesn't mind helping a noob like me out. How do we use the string? Where do we put it?

Well some guys are overdoing it! They sometimes copy all the stuffs including the sales page, shirt design, etc.. I don't think it's a good business model for long-term success...

Oh yeah copying is not my way to go, definetely.

I try to get niche ideas, rather than copying anything. You're absolutely right!

Nice tip, thanks. Here's another one. Most of the successful campaigns are using retargeting platforms like Perfect Audience.

Yes, definitely implement retargeting! It increases sales by 10% to 30% in my experience...

          Retargeting is a must-have.

For teespring, you actually don't need paid services. They let you add your Facebook retargeting pixel inside of your teespring sales page, which will add them to a custom audience you set up, to which you can set up as many ads as you want. This is awesome and greatly rewarding, indeed.

Glad I can be of help

    Another quick one:

To take a look at all the campaigns going on right now (that have not been hidden from Google) that have sold over, say, 100 shirts, you search:

site:teespring.com "100..99999 sold towards goal of 10..99999" "You can keep buying until the campaign ends"

    Have fun!

How is Teespring treating you guys?

I've been seeing more and more people saying that Teespring and the whole tee bizz is oversaturated or dead, but I find that it's still growing strong!

Hope you guys are killing it!

      Hey Cheexy,

I really wouldn't know how to answer that question, as I only use and have always used one traffic source: Facebook ads.

These are very reliable and very powerful, if you know how to tap and reach the right audience.

I know other people have been using different sources, though. I remember seeing a WSO from PPC-Coach, who I don't know, but I know is highly regarded, about using 7-search to teespring - 7 search is a PPC company, if you haven't heard of them.

Anyways, I find Facebook perfect for this - or any online selling, for that matter.

Teeviewer is good. TeeGrasp is better - http://teegrasp.com

Trends are fluctuating all the time so you need to see which campaigns are working at this moment in time.
