Why are my adwords impressions/click/leads fluctuating so much?

This makes no sense to me. Why would the impressions within the same geographic area fluctuate so much on a daily basis.

For example: One day I get 79 impressions and the next day it's 380. No changes to the adwords account. It's been like this for months. That's a large difference, and it's jumping up and down like this daily.

How can it be that one day 79 people come across my ads and a few days after about 5 times more people come across my ads, with no difference to me gaining clients. Then all of a sudden I get 7-10 clients within a few days then nobody for the rest of the month.

Kinda makes me think... FRAUD.

Google throws you a few bones to keep paying into the system. Just my opinion. I've been using adwords for years and use more advanced advertising techniques.

    Well the main reason behind this change is competition. If no one is competing against you or their bid is lesser than what you had set, then you would be getting the majority of impressions. Like wise if they bid more than you, they are going have more impressions.

    You should be optimizing your bids based on your daily results orelse you are bound to face these of situations.

      I agree with Naveen - the first thing to check is for a new competitor.

      They could be throwing out high bids and running out of money, then coming back with high bids again.

      You can try and adjust for that or just ride it out and let them break the bank.

    I was thinking competition also, but every time I checked the position of my ads, they were #1. I have no real competitors in my relatively small market other than the search results themselves. Hmmm...

    I just thought it was odd that my impressions changed so much on a daily basis with no real competition.
