im curious to know if google has cancelled any accounts from people who profit from nothing but image based websites like background websites or memes websites

    The only thing Google could do is take away the images in their search results, but unless you are using their Adwords platform there's not much they usually do. Remember they are just indexing images in their search engine, but if you are using display marketing via images/banners then you need to - like everyone else - follow their advertising guidelines. Not following guidelines with your ads and having a website that infringes on some policies can get your accounts canned. In that case just ring them up though and ask what you need to change in order to get your Adwords account reinstated. Always works as long as you co-operate with their guidelines and policies
