Where Can I Find Good CPV, PPV Learning Material

I am looking for cheaper traffic sources as compared to PPC, and CPV (otherwise called PPV) is what I am looking to learn more about.

Can anyone point me at a good source of up-to-date information that can teaches me the whole methology of CPV marketing?

Save your $$. PPV is dead simple. Think outside the box, bid on keywords or URLs (different campaigns for both), test, try new stuff.

Yes, for that we all need to take action. which 99.5% of us will never take!!!
so only 0.5% will be rich, in fact they are!!!

Yes, I have been seeing a very decent ROI since Nov of 2008. I started with **** then it got flooded. I did very well with a Neverblue credit card offer until it got pulled in March. I was also doing very well with a Netflix offer until they found out I was giving rebates on memberships out of my commissions so that one got yanked.

I'm currently testing several new offers and finding some real gems, today especially.

      My keys to PPV are:
      • automating the URL scraping to build a nice list from the first couple of pages of the serps QUICKLY. No one wants to sit there and copy/paste urls
      • having SEVERAL offers that rotate in the same niche after your creative is approved
      • tracking to the keyword/url level and monitoring it every day
      • launching many, many campaigns
      • finding the offers that convert from your rotator and quickly removing the duds
The great thing about PPV is it only takes about 1 hr to put an entire campaign together, tracking and all once you automate and get the system down pat.

I have gotten into bidding wars with other affiliates so that's one of the more challenging parts of PPV and you can see it in real time.

      Take Care,
      Corey

Quoted for truth. Great advice. I'd add onto that notice what is profitable and what is not, eliminate the un-profitable stuff and always test for yourself. Start out targeted and broaden out into bigger stuff.

About AffPortal, I found a way to get it for FREE (well, almost free).. Don't worry, it's legitimate anyway

Tracking PPV is challenging. There's a post on Nickycakes where he hacked prosper 202 to enable tracking PPV.

Stats Junky has traffic vance listed as one traffic source that is trackable. I have not tried this yet but will be VERY soon b/c I'm a lifetime member of SJ.

Currently, and I know this is a no no, I pass the url that triggered the pop up to the subid. I know the merchant get's the converting url so don't lecture me :-) I only do it b/c I can't find a tracking system I like yet. Then I pull reports and import them into a custom spreadsheet that has macros I programmed that makes sense of these random reports and spits out the info I need.

@TE2, ohhhhhhh, so that was you I was bidding against... I'll get you next time :-)

      Yup, that was me.

I knew it was you because of the super secret CPV ninja spy and sniper tool that I developed that gives me x-ray vision into my competition's CPV campaigns.

Oops, the secret is out now. Everybody is going to want it now so i might as well give it away. It is free only to those with a CPV Ad spend over $100,000 per day and for one day only which will be on the second Thursday of next week.

Right. My understanding is you shouldn't have to hack anything (using media traffic at least.)

Send your traffic to 202. It will store the keyword/url, generate a subid and send a cloaked redirect to the offer including the subid. Then download your stats at the CPA network(s) and import the subid's to see which keywords generated leads.

Well that's good to know. I don't use it still :-) I like how stats junky downloads the reports for me. Not that i'm lazy but i'm up to my neck in writing new tools for ppv and ppc and dont' have the time to download and import .csv files from ten places.

So here's a great tip that I read the Bryn.me had posted. Something that I had not thought of and that is to add audio to auto play from your popup. Now you can only do this if you send traffic to your lander for a presell first and from what Bryn says, only Traffic Vance will allow you to do this.

I have a nice collection of plr audio clips (music) that i'm adding to affportal.com that now i'm thinking of using for my ppv campaigns to test click throughs and conversions with.

Have you guys/gals tried adding audio to your popups?

I had some questions PMed to me so I thought I would post my answers here. For those of you who pm'ed me, I'll cover the subsequent questions this week in more posts. I received about 45 questions total last week while I was away and some were duplicates but I will get to all of them, promise. Feel free to PM me any questions that you guys have with regard to PPV and CPV marketing. If I don't know the answer, I'll be sure to hit up my peers and get you your answer b/c we are having a conference call next week on the direction of PPV advertising b/c it's getting hugely popular and much more competitive.

Several questions had to do with scraping URLs, tools and what depth should you go. First off I use my own URL scraper. I do this b/c I am a .net programmer and I'm able to add additional sources of urls besides just the standard ones that the others all include and tweak my algorithms. I am currently adding digg, delicious, twitter and youtube. I usually go to the first ten pages in depth to start out or whatever will give me about 100 keywords to start with.

The key here is not spending a huge amount of time in the initial testing phase. You are not trying to profit immediately. You are trying to retrieve data from your first test with $20 to see if your niche uses the adware you chose to advertise on AND to see which of your rotating offers convert.

Prosper tracks everything, rotates offers, and all that. Its the shiznit. If you have hostgator and need help setting it up let me know. Like AffiliateTip said, track everything! Test new offers! I did ok with PPV but I would have done so much better if I had prosper 202 when I was using it as a traffic source.

        @Cash37

A friend of mine just set up the P202 Rotator script and mentioned that you need to add a blank file called count.txt to the root of your installation. I imagine this is used like a flat file database. Do you know if the P202 rotator rotates your offers evenly or randomly?

I use my own php script that rotates randomly but I'm curious how P202 rotator works and if you know about this stub file?

        Thanks

It rotates, evenly from one URL to the next. Yes, it uses the count.txt file.

The value in rotating offers is that you can see which best converts among similar offers. IE: Match.com, eHarmony.com, etc.

Then when there is a clear winner, I send the lions share of the traffic there and rotate in another backup offer in case the primary offer get's pulled.

I don't use a rotator anymore but test multiples against each other at the same time. My tracking tools give me all the stats I need. Plus, my setup is easier to admin. Just MHO.

I think we get the same results using different methods.

I believe nowdays you can find the basics of how to set up cpv campaigns on the web for free. Also , if you have any technical questions ask here and someone will reply.
Other than that , you don't need anything else. CPV marketing comes down to creating campaigns , rotating offers and optimizing. It's not rocket science.
So my advice would be to sign up with a few different cpv networks and start testing. And you don't need a lot of money to test offers like in ppc.
      My 2 cents

    like bbrock32 said,

TESTING and TRACKING are the most important thing to do so, in the cpv game. Afterall, it's a number game.

I had someone coaching me and tell me what to do and what NOT TO DO, but I did not follow ALL of the advice, and I ventured out to test things on my own. I was lucky because after testing and tracking my campaign for around two weeks, I was able to make a $130 of NET PROFIT out of ONLY $2 on CPV/PPV ad spent !

That's how powerful of testing and tracking your cpv campaign, when you're doing it the correct way
