Trying to understand Facebook "interests" targeting

I'm investigating a new venture and am trying to understand how
Facebook "interests" targeting works so I can decide if Facebook
ads are a good way to go.

The two things I can't find are:

1. A list of the available interests (I don't have an ad account yet
and am not ready to set up a page to get one).

2. How the interests are associated with users. On my Facebook
profile I see how I can show interest in things like books and movies
but not specific things like "Arcade Fire," "M83," and "Passion Pit" -
or "business opportunities", "copywriting", "small business management".

Any info or links to resources regarding this will be greatly appreciated.

    Hey there,

You can target the specific pages or group of any particular product/service/band, etc.

For instance, if you want to target the public who has interest in 'Arcade Fire', then target the same or relevant named pages or groups.

Before targeting any page/group, look for its activity, user engagements & likes. Organically gown (not paid) pages will have good user engagement & targeting such pages is worth. Usually paid pages will have fake like as it get auto likes most of the time & that type of user likes will not have any interest in that particular page/product/service/niche/brand/celebrity, etc.

If you want to target the audience who are interested in Books then you can choose any specific book/s' pages or groups to target the users who have interest in books or any particular book.

You can broad up your targeting area, for instance your book is about love & emotions then target the pages of love, emotions, affection, etc.

We (IM Workers) prefer, organic(viral) growth as it will give us all the genuine likes. Although its time consuming but its worth.

Hope that's helpful for you. Good Luck!

Yes, facebook is the great way to advertise. If you know some page related to your niche you can target it in advance options. Test the water with 50-100$ in a week and you will get idea how it works.
