How To Target Long Tail KW's In PPC

I am getting ready to start a PPC campaign in Bing and was wondering if any of you have had success with long tail keywords?

I am also wondering, would you use broad, phrase or modified broad for the long tail keywords?

I've heard that long tail keywords can be less per click than the regular typical keywords for a campaign?

Thanks

I've never had success with them on Bing, they tend to have too low of volume... unless a very major niche.

Though the volume may be lower, long tail keywords can work very well because searchers are generally further along in the search funnel and thus closer to buying.

Modified broad match is an ideal match type for getting long tail keyword traffic. Standard broad match is too broad (bringing too many clicks from irrelevant queries, even when using a lot of negative keywords) and there are too many possible keyword combinations to capture long tail searches efficiently with phrase and exact match.

Not that you shouldn't use phrase and exact match when the volume and performance warrant it, but you'll miss a lot of relevant traffic if you use only those match types.

I'm going to test it out with some longtail keywords and see how it does. I appreciate your answer, I now have an idea of how to proceed.

      Thanks
