Landing Page Keyword Relevance Confusion

RE: BingAds

I am still a little unclear on how to achieve a good landing page relevance per the keywords I have set for a campaign because the landing page is quite simple, just a LeadPages opt-in box. I mean, we are talking a short sentence of text.

Any input on how to best match-up a short "hook", 1 sentence on a landing page, with your keywords to get a good relevance score? Examples?

Thanks!

Also: just how long does it take to actually get a relevance score? (all keywords still have nothing after 24hrs)

Yeah, well as you probably already know, the best lead capture pages are as you have it, (short and to the point with an opt in box) but unfortunately it's usually not possible to get too good of quality keyword score. And also a lot of traffic sources are beginning to disallow them more and more.

Even Bing Ads is getting to the point where they are beginning to disapprove squeeze pages. But the best option in this case would be to create a longer squeeze with maybe something like 100 words that's keyword heavy, and also including the keyword as alternate text behind an image.

This will usually get you about a 7 or 8/10 quality score. You'll get more impressions and pay less per click.

One thing I do in cases where I can only advertise a longer sales/squeeze page or a lengthy blog post, I also create a pop-over email opt in form with a catchy headline and opt in box that pops up as soon as visitors land on my page. I've still hit conversions over 55% as with a normal short squeeze page. And it is 100% acceptable by Bing Ads (at least for now).

And once you do this, delete and recreate your ad so the system will do another auto scan of your landing page. You could wait it out using the same ad, but I'm not sure exactly how often their system scans your landing page for keyword relevance. I always found it faster to just delete and recreate the ad.

Thanks for your input and suggestions!

Yes, I am finding out the intricacies of this -- we see the benefits of short, low info but high impact landing pages but that just makes it difficult to associate keywords and acquire quality scores.

I will give some of your suggestions a go.

To clarify: you are simply adding keywords to the alt text of an image on a stripped-down squeeze page, correct? Or do you have copy that's keyword heavy on that page?

Just a little confused as to what you are doing there.

Here's an example page of one of my squeeze pages that converted at about 63% for biz opp seekers.

Work From Home | Create Wealth Online

(Please don't bother opting in. This offer is no longer available and I don't work with the company anymore )

But on this page, most of my text is primarily related to making money and working from home. Even the image name/alt text is "work from home". So any keywords that I used that were related to anything like "make money online" or "work from home" I got a very high quality score of 9 or sometimes even 10/10.

Hope that page will give you a great example.

On some of my other pages, I had landing pages that were very similar but with a popover opt in form.

          Ok. thanks.

Yeah -- no MMO stuff for me. I am attempting to reach small businesses in specific niche markets. I'm finding it difficult to nail down my keywords --- how/what my target searches for and then how to make a relevant ad/landing page combo.

What I would do is download Bing Ads Intelligence tool and play around with the keyword research tool they give you. You should be able to find some great keywords related to your niches to start with.

Then just try to add any good broad keywords in the headline (at least one), then another behind a picture(s) and a few times through-out the landing page.

It gets easier over time. Just put yourself in your perfect prospect's shoes. What keywords would you type into the search engine if you were looking for what it is you have to offer?

Then the Bing Ads Intelligence tool will give a great variety of relevant keywords that your target market is using to search for what you have to offer.

Yep -- I've been working with the Excel Add-In tool!

but... keywords are where this gets cloudy for me because I am thinking of things that my target will be searching for, BUT that doesn't necessarily relate to MY squeeze page. I did add THOSE keywords to alt text you suggested tho! So we shall see!

    Thanks again for your input!

Make sure the keywords you are targeting are present in the meta tags and meta description.

This method gets me good quality score on more than half of my keywords.

Yes, the meta tags are matched to the keywords I've selected for the campaign. From my initial research, apparently Bing still uses the keywords meta tag.

        Thanks!
