I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't seem to find it.

Why for certain google search terms do no ads show? Is there a way to start showing ads on those pages if your ad is relevant even with little or no competition?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps no one is bidding on those keywords?

I am almost certain no one is. It is a very specific keyword. Does that mean I would never have a chance to show on that search term unless someone else came along?

My understanding is that there is simply no one bidding on those keywords but I must admit that I am also puzzled when I enter keywords and find no adds.

If you are searching something really obscure, there's probably no one is bidding on that, besides, you don't have to see ads on each and every searches that you put on google..

    - No one is bidding
    - No one is bidding in your location
    - Google is very stick on approving ads for the niche.

For me it ended up being a bid issue. When I upped the bid I started to show all alone for my keyword that gets so far 600 impressions a day for the past few days in a row for a very specific location. I can live with that if it gets my brand out there.

Although I am curious what Google considers position one. I had 600 Impressions yesterday with an avg position of 1. I know for a fact I searched a couple times and my ad came up on page two at the bottom but without any other ads around. Does this still consider it a position 1 or is it only position 1 if it is on the first page?

Most likely, Google will recognize that you (the Adwords account owner) are the one viewing the ads in your browser. That could happen since they track your movement online via IP and a number of other ways even when you are logged out of Google. This could be influencing where/how your ads appear. If you could view the same search listings on another computer with a different IP, you might see that your ads are showing up where they are supposed to.

If you are searching something obscure there are chances you won't see ads, it's definitely not necessary at all to see ads for all searches!
