Why are so many Clickbank products forbidden by Adwords

I wonder why are so many Clickbank products forbidden by Adwords. What Adwords TOS do they break and why?

  • Adwords has always looked down upon affiliate offers. They are especially against Clickbank MMO products due to all the issue people have had with them, especially the ones with rebills.

There are very, very few of those left now, and ClickBank seems not to be accepting new ones. They have been "putting their house in order", like many other companies, in these days of increasing compliance, because of the demands of their own "upline.financial service providers" (in other words, many credit-card companies and PayPal will no longer tolerate that kind of stuff. That's more for non-compliant, Chinese companies like "Clicksure", with whom even PayPal refuse to do business).

AdWords hasn't allowed any direct links to sales pages at all, since I've been online - but it doesn't really matter, because that's no way to sell ClickBank products anyway: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7110523.

Sending paid traffic directly to a hoplink would be like trying to run the bath by opening the taps fully but not bothering to put the plug in the hole first: you'd be losing almost everything you're paying for, and it would take ages to make any real progress. (Besides, if you could really sell them that way, why would vendors be paying out up to 75% of their takings to affiliates who provide the traffic: they'd just do that themselves or employ someone to do it, surely?).

The thread belongs here, really: Pay Per Click/Search Engine Marketing (PPC/SEM)

    Adwords rules are here:

    support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/1316548?hl=en&rd=2

It's not that the product is a ClickBank product, it's that their landing page violates one or more of these rules. The vast majority of CB sites I've seen do violate some rules. Some common ones are pop-ups (see User Experience section) and claims that are misleading or unverifiable (ie: run car on water or earn $763.55 today).

If you see any CB, or any affiliate site for that matter, that is iffy as far as those rules are concerned, don't promote it, at least not with Adwords. Bing too has pretty much the same rules.

Sending traffic directly to an affiliate page is not a problem as long as all the rules are followed.

Unfortunately there are some "low quality" ones out there and they seem to ruin it for everyone. If you're using Adwords you should have your own site with lots of content anyways so if you have links from your site to cb offers you should typically be ok (assuming your site is built out with lots of content)

In my opinion is you are wanting to promote Clickbank products using Google, FB or any other ad network is to have things setup so that you capture their emails first and provide them with something in return. I have not seen a ad network yet that has a issue with this yet unless you do something against the TOS or make really out of this world claims.

That list will provide you with a much better income stream in the long run. Take some time, build a relationship with your readers. Provide them some value... then promote something to them.

Oh and be sure to keep your buyers separate... they are the cream of the crop.

Thanks for your replies. What I don't get is one site is allowed to run adwords but a very similar site is not. For example, everify appears to be running lots of ads on Adwords, whereas backgroundreport360 is not. Of course, it does not necessarily mean that backgroundreport360 is banned.

The commission rates on CB are infinitely better than those for physical products I am promoting. That is why I would like to have a try.

Just because you don't see Adwords for backgroundreport360, doesn't mean they are not or that they have been banned. They may not even be advertising (they or their affiliates) using Adwords. Unless you know for sure they are not allowed to use Adwords, it's just a guess.

I can tell you looking at their site that it seems OK at a first quick glance. However, they do say "instant results" and "60 seconds" which Google may object to. It seems just a bit too unrealistic. Of course, I'm just speculating here as to what Google may not like, if anything. They also have a bit about being the "best".

I'm not an affiliate marketer but I'd look at more than just higher commission payouts. Looks like most affiliates would create their own site but you need to be good at writing good sales copy. If you direct link with PPC, which of everify or backgroundreport360 would have a higher conversion?
