I really dont suggest using Wordpress for LPs

Traditional Html and css LP work the best for me.
I use both Dreamweaver and Muse to make LPs.

Try learning some basic HTML and CSS its very easy and wont take more than a week but its great skill to have.

wordpress is good to go, even when you are doing volume and being experienced..

Under 500k visits per month
Use wordpress + cloudflare CDN + gzip compression

Over 1M visits per month look into custom solutions.
Wordpress can handle it but from time to time it might time out < happened to me.
It also depends a lot on your server.

If your just getting started wordpress is acceptable.

Have you thought about a service like UnBounce? MaxBounty wrote about them in their blog a while back. Could be what you're looking for.
