For first time bloggers getting people to actually read your blog can seem like a daunting challenge. In this article I will answer the 3 questions about promoting your blog that I am asked most frequently. I am often asked how often you should post new content, how you get people to care about your blog and how I share my posts with others. These are the 3 questions I will be answering in this article.
1. How Often Should I Update My Blog?
As often as possible. However, unless you're a full time blogger you probably wont be able to write more than one blog post a day. In that case I do recommend posting once a day, especially in the beginning when you're trying to get the blog recognized in your niche. If that's too much try to post a couple of blog posts a week and make sure you post at least once a week. If you're not able to do that you might want to consider if blogging is really for you!
I don't mean to be harsh, but one blog post a week is the bare minimum you should be able to post!
2. How Do I Get People To Care About My Blog Posts?
Nothing is more disappointing than pouring your heart and should into post after blog post without getting any feedback from your readers. Everybody wants to be recognized for what they do, that's no different for bloggers. If you want people to get engaged in your blog and your blog posts you should try to engage yourself in the problems people in your niche have. Seek out forums and other sites, such as Yahoo Answers, where people ask questions and have problems they need help with. Write a post with the answer to their question or the solution to their problem and it's a safe bet that they will care about your post!
3. How Do You Share Your Blog Posts With Others?
There are many ways to share your blog posts with others. Social media such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are great places to share your posts. My favorite place to share my blog posts with others is by far Twitter. To make this process as easy as possible for me I have installed a plug-in on my WordPress blog that automatically sends out a "Tweet" with a link to my latest post.
