A lot of people who get started with e-books often wonder how many pages there have to be so that it's acceptable to a customer. This is a really good question given the fact that you don't necessarily want to create something that is significantly larger than it needs to be. In fact, many people who purchase e-books do so because they like the idea of being able to get the knowledge they need without necessarily having to wade through hundreds of pages of text.

Generally speaking, you will want to make an e-book at least 50 pages in length. Some people might recommend that it be a little bit longer than this, however, most standard definitions of what constitutes a traditional publication will stipulate that it be at least 50 pages. Yes, there are exceptions -- there are truly exceptions to every rule. However, most of your customers will be expecting something a little bit longer than some glorified report. You cannot seriously sell somebody a publication that's only five pages long and call it an e-book. That just won't really make any sense.

It is highly advisable that you spend a little bit of time creating your table of contents first. This will facilitate the process of creating the actual e-book. You will not only find it a lot easier to create the book itself, but your customers will appreciate the fact that it is well-organized, concise, and informative. So remember, try to make your first e-book at least 50 pages in length.
