In this article I want to explore the difference between article "directory" marketing and article marketing as although at first glance there does not look to be a huge difference between the two or they can even be mistaken for the same thing - they are not and you can save yourself a lot of trouble by learning the difference.
Firstly what is Article "Directory" Marketing?
Most people that are marketing online will know this option very well! It is taught so many times in many different guides pretty much since people starting marketing online.
It involves writing for the big name article directories and submitting as many articles as you can that are keyword optimized in an effort to take advantage of the page rank and the "standing" the article directory has with Google in hopes of ranking on the first page for your keywords.
This DOES work to an extent!
However...
You only have to look at the recent Google Farmer update and put yourself in the shoes of many marketers who genuinely believed this was the way to go about making money online who are not having that much success following this method now.
If Google suddenly changes its view of a big name Article directory all that work has not helped you!
Also as you are not building your own websites with this method it can be short lived and once one big name article directory "falls" marketers rush off to find the next high ranking website...
And so the cycle continues...

Article marketing carried out in the proper manner can be a very powerful form of traffic generation!
Of course you can use the Article directories as mentioned above but make sure that you are building your own websites first!
Also the key is getting your content syndicated and finding high authority websites in your niche that people pay attention too.

This is for just 1 article!
