One of the most important things you will do when it comes to list building is writing copy for your opt-in page. The goal is to get more people to sign up for your list. How do you do that? By increasing your conversion rate on your opt-in page.

First off, let's take a look at the traditional format of an opt-in page. You have your headline, a few bullets, perhaps a few paragraphs, and of course, you need your opt-in form on your page to capture subscribers. Everything on this page should be about how your readers can benefit. It's not about you, it's about your prospects!

Your copy for your opt-in page does not have to be long, but it has to be succinct and describe the benefits of your subscription offer to your visitor. Let's start with the headline. You want to include the one major benefit of your offer here. If it's a weight loss product, for example, you'll want to say something like 'Finally! Now you can feel total confidence with our weight loss secrets!' That is a bad example, I know, but you get the idea.

For the bullet points, you will want to include all the other benefits of your free offer. Make them exciting and enthusiastic. Your aim at this moment, after grabbing the attention of your prospect with the headline, is to elevate interest.

And then for your subscription form, call your visitors to action. Make your offer time-limited or give away only limited copies. Get them to act now or they might hold off and forget about it later.
