It is possible to get 20%-30% clickthrough rates for your articles. Those articles that have this success rate usually follow some proven principles.

Here are some ways to increase clickthrough rates:

1) Have an absolutely killer title

Compelling titles with a clear visual tone (similes, 'hype' words) set the tone for the rest of the article and warms up the reader to be in an active state. Not to mention, a great title also gets more page views for the article, which subsequently increases your traffic.

2) Write a gripping opening paragraph

The opening paragraph should call out to the deepest desires or fears of your reader. Elucidate the problem they are facing, or write a short story they can relate too. Everyone loves a good story, and a powerful opening story is sure to get readers to read through the rest of your article.

3) End your article with a 'call-to-action'

Just like sales letters, if you want to get your reader into a state to act (ie click on your link), you have to call them to action. This does not necessarily mean ending your article by telling them to click on the link in your resource box. You can simply tell them to take action on the information in your article.

For example, if you are writing a golf tips article, you can end your article like this "Now that you know these 7 golf tips to improve your game, go and try them out the next you time you play!" That's not the best, but you get what I'm saying. This puts your readers into a state to act. They will want to click on the link in your resource box to get more information. Get your readers to act by telling them to do so and your response rates will increase.
