Here are some secrets to finally getting it right with Adwords:
1. Get Your Keyword List 'Perfect'!
Ok, I know 'perfect' probably doesn't exist, but you need to spend a lot of time refining your keyword list at the beginning and even when your campaign is underway! Your keyword list can literally make or break you. After all, keywords are the words the users type into the search engine to find your site. The main thing you'd want to consider is: are your keywords highly targeted to your offer and website?
2. Split-Test Different Ads
Write 2 or 3 different ads and split-test them on an equal basis 50/50 in your Adwords account to see which pulls better. After a week or even after a few days, see which ad is perfoming better and throw out the poor performing one. Then create a new ad to compete with your winning ad. Keep on repeating the process to achieve better and better clickthrough rates for your ads.
3. Track Your Results With Google Analytics
Google Analytics allows you to see which ads or even which ad groups or keywords are converting the best for you, whether it's in terms of lead sign-ups or sales. You can then increase your bids for your high-performing keywords and lower your bids for your poor performing ones.
