1) Choose highly targeted keywords
Your keyword list is vitally important because they will determine what kind of visitor will see your ad. Will he be warmed up when he clicks on your ad? Will he even click on your ad at all? Your choice of keywords will affect all of this. Ask yourself if your keywords are targeted to the product or website you are promoting. Would you respond to your own ad if you did a search for the keyword?
2) Include your keywords in your ad copy
Customizing each of your ads to include your keywords in them might seem a little 'troublesome', but it's worth it because your keywords will be bolded. This makes your ad stand out more, especially if the others don't do it.
3) Include hot triggers in your ad copy
Hot triggers are emotional triggers that arise out of benefits, not features. Your ad will be clicked on because of the benefits it promises, rather than the features. Power words like 'incredible' and 'ultimate' are also triggers that incite more click throughs to your ad. Spend some time studying successful ads in newspapers and classified ads to get a feel of what works.
