Article Marketing Tips: What Not to Do to Get More Traffic and Links
- ARTICLES |
In today's post we're going to flip the script a little bit and talk about what not to do when you are trying to get more traffic and links to your website using article marketing.
1. Don't use cheaply written articles
It seems like there are countless places where you can get articles written for just a few dollars, but you get what you pay for. If you want well written, quality articles for your article marketing efforts, you might consider investing the time to write them yourself or hiring a ghostwriter who specializes in the topic of your niche.
2. Don't spin articles
Another popular strategy for getting many articles from a single article is to use software to, 'spin' one article into several.
3. Don't limit yourself to just one type of content
Article marketing, due to the nature of the strategy, focuses on writing and posting text articles, but if you really want to get more traffic and links to your site, diversify the types of content that you create and syndicate.
Video marketing can be a natural outgrowth of article marketing. You can create slide-show videos from your articles, or even record a, 'talking head,' article where you read the text of the video in front of a camera. Then publish the video on the top video sharing sites with a link back to your site.
Creating audio programs or podcasts using the material from your articles is another effective way to attract targeted traffic and links back to your website.
4. Don't skimp on keyword research
If you've been doing article marketing for awhile, you might fall into the habit of not putting enough time and energy into doing thorough keyword research. Invest in a good keyword research tool because it will save you precious time and it will yield far more accurate results than you might come up with just winging it on your own.
5. Don't stuff your articles with keywords
At the risk of sounding completely 1999-ish, over using, or stuffing your articles with keywords is not going to get you more traffic. This is a tactic that stopped working years ago, yet I still see people doing it. Write your article using your keywords only where they would naturally appear. Write for your human readers first and let the quality of the article determine what the search engines do with it.
If you keep your priorities on creating the best quality content possible, you will not have to worry about search engine algorithm tweaks because you'll always be safe.
