It has never been more important to understand your target demographic. This new generation of consumers has grown up with the Internet. They aren't impressed by the same things that caught their parents' eye. They need more flash and more bang for their buck and they need it fast.
During the product creation process you need to address the needs and desires of the target audience. If that target is part of the new generation consumer then your earning potential is tremendous but only if you meet the needs of a rapidly evolving market. Consumers can get nearly anything at any time these days and unless your product speaks directly to them, they're going to go with someone else who does.
