Many affiliate marketers and website owners loose customers just because of the appearance of their website. Poor website designs such as shocking color schemes, extravagant fonts, difficult navigtion, flashing graphics, too many product choices and an abrasive sales pitch will kill sales and repeat customers.

BelowI listed several tips to help you design a website that makes sales and keeps readers coming back again and again. These affiliate marketing tips will help you create a truly visitor friendly website.

1. Don't use extreme fonts or colors. This will give your website an unprofessional look. Keep the design clean and simple to read. Use a white background and black fonts.

2. Add a navigation menu with your main categories. Under each of those categories place links to sub categories or articles. Add an updated site map so that visitors can easily find what their looking for. Remember to provide them a link to the home page.

3. Don't use flickering images and flash graphic introductions. These will take attention away from the objective of your site and also affect your search engine rankings. Keep it simple and avoid any flashing graphics, music or flash images in your website design.

4. Based upon the size of your website, keep your promotions to a few valuable programs and always mix affiliate links into the content of your site. Keep offers to a minimum. It's enticing to sign up for many different affiliate programs at once, but this could lead to over promoting of too many different things. And you don't want to give your customer too many products to choose from. They may get distracted and not buy anything at all.

5. Don't give readers a sales pitch immediately after they land on your website. Pre-sell by offering information, advice and substance they can actually use, then and should you make an offer. You have to warm up your customers before the sales pitch

6. Please stay away from too many exclamation marks. It's unprofessional to overuse exclamation marks and over hyped language. You can loose customers doing this because it makes you look like you're just out to make a sale. Again, use quality and informative content first.

7. Provide a subscriber opt in form so you keep in touch. You can offer them a newsletter subscription and use a free ebook as an incentive to sign up. Don't let visitors just leave your site. Make sure you get their email address so that you have a way to follow-up with them later on. Remember no to abuse their information and send them product offer after product offer. Your readers will unsubscribe from your list if you do this. Send them useful information and content instead then make suggestive product endorsements that will help fill their needs.

8. Provide your contact information on your website. People are suspicious of a lot of websites. You don't have to provide your home address but a P.O. Box, email address and general information about you and your business helps build confidence and trustworthiness.

9. Add a poll or form on your website where visitors can send you feedback. This is an awesome tactic to gather information and do market research. From their feedback you will learn what your visitors would like to see or how you can enhance your website.

By using these tips you're increasing your chances of free search engine traffic and they will also help you create a visitor-friendly website. Also, by making these changes in your own website you're pleasing your visitors as well as the search engines. Why do this? .Search engines are in the business of providing the best quality search results to their visitors and visitors will keep coming back and recommending your site to others.
