Finding Ways To Market Your Ebook Online

Have you ever tried to sell a $7 ebook but it didn't make the money that you'd hope that it did? I can remember when I first started out in internet marketing, I was selling this book on how to make money online. And of course like any newbie, the traffic method that I immediately started off with was pay per click advertising.
I thought people would buy my $500 product with ease - just how the gurus said that they were. But sadly, I was met with the reality that it's incredibly tough to sell a $500 product... online or offline. So then, I dramatically dropped my price down to $49, and I only got 2 sales... after acquiring over 3,000 opt-in leads.
This niche didn't make me very happy, so I quit the internet marketing world altogether to go back to work and hopefully finish high school on a good note. I wanted money, and the only money that I was going to get back then was in the form of a scholarship. I went to college, stayed there for a semester, then dropped out as I figured that this wasn't what I wanted to do with my life.
Here comes the ebook dream once again. But only this time, I was much smarter and wiser. I didn't start off with pay per click... instead, I focused all my energies on free marketing techniques. Surprisingly, free marketing was the thing that got me instant sales. I couldn't believe it. All the gurus say to pay for advertising, instead of really knowing the ins and outs of the internet marketing world by starting off with free marketing first.
So what kind of free marketing strategies did I start to do? Well I did alot. The first thing I started with was forum marketing. All I did was join a high traffic forum, and started leaving very helpful tips and information. In return, people were clicking on my link and I got free traffic and free subscribers immediately. That's the beauty of forum marketing.
Simply go to Google and type in your niche followed by the word "forum". I'm sure you'll find alot of forums out there that you can join and be a member of. You can make new friends, start up joint venture deals, share ideas, all while promoting your product at the same time. Here's another free traffic strategy that I used to sell my ebook with:
- Video marketing
I love video marketing. There's nothing else better in the world. Right now as we speak, Youtube is the number 3 website on the web in terms of website traffic. Google is number 1, and Facebook is number 2. With Youtube being number 3 on the list, it would be totally ridiculous not to use it.
To make my videos, I use a free software called Camstudio. It's very good at recording screen shots and anything else that you want to record on your computer screen. It's a very helpful software, and it's what I use to make my Youtube videos. If you're not on Youtube yet, now is the time to join.
Make your videos about 3 minutes long, and get right into the heat of the matter. Hit your viewers off with excellent information, and leave your website information at the bottom of the video. People will take the time to type in your URL in their address box, and visit your website.
Both of these strategies are great ways to start getting more traffic to your ebook sales page, and they both work really fast. I think you should jump on the bandwagon too and start improving your sales and profits today.
