What Not To Do When Using Google Adwords

Do you make some of the most classical mistakes when it comes to Google Adwords? Alot of people do, and they do so because they have no idea what they're doing, and they have no idea of how to market their business on the internet. A few years ago, people were making a killing by inserting their affiliate link into their Adwords ads, and were making alot of money.

Then one day, Google came down from Heaven and stopped this practice completely. Because of this, people who were making $10,000 - $20,000 a month from Adwords saw their income eliminated. Google then instated changes in how their Adwords program would work, and one of the biggest things that they wanted to see was a good landing page.

Oh and yes... they have banned the practice of inserting an affiliate link in your Adwords ad. Because of this, alot of people didn't know what to do. They were scrambling and the internet marketing world was in a frenzy at the time. It wasn't enough to just link directly to your sales letter site. Google wanted to see a consistent pattern between your Adwords ad, and your website.

For some online business owners, making the changes were easy. But for others (mainly beginners), their mistakes were continuing to pile up. One mistake that beginners make when advertising with Google Adwords is that they run ads on the display or content network, and don't specify a particular website to advertise on.

This is the fastest way to blow money. If you sign up for the content network and don't specify any sites to exclusively run your ads on, your money is going straight out the window. I see all kinds of non-relevant ads that show up on my website that make me wonder why they would even try to run their ads.

The ads aren't targeted. I see ads about dating women on my internet marketing site. What sense does that make? But sadly, I'm pretty sure that you're doing the same thing - even if you are getting alot of "hits" to your website. One thing you need to know is that "hits" are nothing. You shouldn't be striving for hits. You should be striving for targeted traffic everyday.

Google Adwords can definitely give you the targeted traffic that you strive for. Make it a point to learn as much about it as you can before you run your first ad. Hangout in forums and ask for advice. Be sure to take advantage of "Google Analytics" and Google's free keyword tool (just go to Google.com and type in "Google keyword tool"). These helpful resources will help you to make the money that you desire in your business.

Even though Adwords can get expensive, you should strive to make it an integral part of your marketing strategy. It can get you leads and sales for cheap, and can deliver alot of targeted traffic to your website. If you're not on Adwords yet, now would be a good time to join.

Good luck with using these tips to have success with your Google Adwords campaign.
