Email marketing can be effective when you use this form of marketing in the proper manner. However, often times companies and organizations who take advantage of this form of marketing will do so in a manner that actually causes consumers to be "put off" to their products and services due to their email marketing strategy. If your company is considering the use of email marketing then you must formulate an email marketing strategy that is not intrusive. The worse thing you can do is "harass" those people who have willingly signed up for your mailing list.

The problem is that most companies who run an email promotional strategy don't believe that their mailings are harassing. This is why the majority of these types of strategies fail. Most companies will assume that if a person signs up to receive their email mailings that they are inviting them to email them on a regular or constant basis. However, your company should consider the rate of individuals who begin blocking your emails or don't respond to your emails. This will be a good indicator telling you if you are over using your email marketing too much.

It is very important that you limit your company to the amount of emails that you are sending the people on your mailing list. You need to ensure that you are not crossing the line into becoming a nuisance. You should only send out emails to your mailing list when there is something of value --- not to you --- but to the consumers that you feel they need to hear.
