Search engine marketing can be very difficult if you don't know what you're doing. Getting your website optimized is something that alot of online business owners will need to be able to do if they want free traffic coming through on a daily basis. Some people will tell you that it's easy to do, while others beg to differ.

Now I'll admit. When I first got started, I didn't know how to proceed with SEO and I've heard conflicting advice about it. So I never used it at all. This was a big mistake because I know see the importance of getting your sites ranked and getting traffic for free.

I think if you stick to the basics, you'll be good to go. In today's lesson, I want to share with you some SEO tips that you can use to rank high in the search engines sooner rather than later. In fact, let's get started on tip number 1 on how to use SEO in your online business today.

1) Write good content

Search engines love good content. This is the kind of content that people want to link to, thereby increasing your credibility and boosting up your relevant "link juice"... which search engines like Google use to determine whether or not your website is worthy of being ranked high in the search engines.

Generally the kind of information that gets links to is those article that are around 700 words, and that recommend good services and information to their readers. Good content has to be original, and isn't anything that is "spun" or non-original. Always provide fresh, new content to your readers, and they will stick to you because of your great advice. Here's SEO tip number 2.

2) Select the right keywords

Keyword usage is very important when it comes to optimizing your site correctly. The easiest way to find the right keywords to your site is with Google's keyword suggestion tool. This tool is free, and you can use it by simply typing in "Google keyword tool" in the search box.

When looking for keywords, you want to target the ones that are non-competitive, and that are easy to rank high for. Stay away from highly competitive keywords because it's going to be tough to rank high for them. Instead, stick to the basics and select the keywords that aren't searched for periodically.

With the right keyword tool (paid ones I mean)... you can potentially find thousands upon thousands of keywords that gets searches every month, but are rarely targeted by marketers. This is something that I definitely think you should do in your online business, and it's something that can bring big changes to your website immediately.

With these search engine marketing tips, you should be able to propel in the right direction with your business, and start seeing changes immediately. Google isn't the only search engine out there. You can still see results by ranking high on Bing and Yahoo also - so keep this in mind.

SEO doesn't have to be complicated. Just stick to the basics if you're a beginner, and you'll start to see more traffic coming your way via the search engine results.

Good luck with using these tips in your business today.
