Adsense is renowned for its low pay per click. Yes, you get paid for every single click, but you get paid very little. That’s why older webmasters decided to refer to Adsense as Adcents. You will be lucky to see $0.1-$0.2 clicks when you first start out. There’s a lot of stories in the forums about $1 clicks, but that’s just an unfounded myth. It does not last and you don’t have any control over how much they pay you.
Affiliate, on the other hand, if you do things right, you may get a commission every 50 visitors you send to an affiliate offer. And if that affiliate offer pays you $50 commission then you’re looking at $1 clicks.

If you want to get to those $100+ days, you need a lot of traffic with Adsense. Let’s reverse engineer. Say you mostly get $0.2 clicks (a very realistic expectation). To make $100, you need 500 clicks. If 3% of the visitors to your site click on adsense ads (it can even be lower than that like 1%), it means you need approximately 17 000 visitors a day. It’s going to take a long time till you get to 17k visitors a day.
Affiliate sites on the other hand, need a lot less traffic. If you’re making a $20 commission for each 100 visitors you have on your site (a very realistic expectation), you only need 500 visitors every day to get to $100.

With Adsense, all you have to do is place the code in your site. That’s it. Google will know what ads work best with your site. Google will test different ads and settle for the ones that work best. Google will do all the heavy lifting while you’re cashing in at the end of the month.
Getting affiliate commissions is a different animal though. You need to motivate people into taking action now. You need to explain the benefits of the product and describe how it will improve their lives if they will purchase it. You must give them a reason to have it NOW, not later when they may forget completely about it. Start reading a little copywriting on the WF forum, and you’ll learn how to do it properly. You’ll thank me for it.
