Keyword density is not quite as important in SEO as it used to be, but it still definitely matters and should never be overlooked. But there is a misconception that the higher your keyword appears in the content, and the more it is repeated, the better youíll be able to rank for it. This is not true. Another term for that approach is called, keyword stuffing. Your content starts to look to unnatural and spammy. This practice is as old as the hills, in internet time, and you undoubtedly will be banned for it. The best approach is to just be as natural as you can, to write for the readers (not the search engines), and use your keywords in a natural way, too. This makes your content look appealing to the search engines and at the same time useful to the visitor. You have to strike a balance between high quality content and the right keyword density.

This will bring in more relevancy to the content, which means youíll naturally rank higher by the search engines.

Another trick to use sparingly is to put some keywords in bolding or you into italics, but avoid doing this on every page, etc. This really is a pretty valuable little tip for on-page SEO. It's impossible to say how much, but the search engine algorithms will add some degree of weight to your keywords when you do that. With SEO, doing more can often, and usually does, hurt you so don't over-do this. Hard to say, but certainly no more than about 3 times should be good enough to do the trick. Also include primary and secondary keywords/phrases in your H1/H2 tags. Treating your keywords within the "H" tags will lend them even more value to the search engine algorithm. what you'll also be doing is optimzing each page for its own primary keyword/phrase plus some additional secondary keywords.

The smart approach is to have all this stuff already figured-out before you build your site. Always avoid making your site in total Flash, or using unnecessary graphics in your site. The problem with Flash is that search engine bots cannot read it, only text can be read, so the bots cannot do their job properly with your site. It's just that if you use Flash, then you will be defeating the purpose of doing SEO in the first place. If you desire to rank highly in the search engines, then you have to accept that SEO is the only way to achieve that. You have to consider what you want, if you want SEO then don't use flash, and do be sure to choose the best keywords for your project. If you do proper SEO, you'll be looked upon as an authority site, and others will begin to have more trust in you as well as the search engines.
