Why You Need A USP In Your Online Business

Do you know what a "USP" is? A USP stands for your "unique selling proposition", and it answers the following question: "Why should I choose you, versus any one of your other competitors?" With a great answer to this question, it's easy to earn money in your business. You will have an advantage that no one else has. And the longer you use this advantage in your business, the more profitable you will remain.

So, I guess you had to that I was going to ask you the obvious question... why should I choose your business versus any other business in your niche? Is it because of price? Is it because of bonuses? Is it because of 24/7 support? Is it because of free delivery? Is it because of brand identity? Why should I do business with you instead of anybody else?

Now relax... I didn't mean to grill you like that but you should know that all of these questions need answers. Answers like "trust", "honesty", and "great service" are things that cannot be your USP. All of these attributes should be things that are already intertwined with your product. In other words, people expect that from you.

Now all of these things are important to the success of your business, but they can't serve as your USP. I'm pretty sure your competitors are using these same words all over the place, in attempts to make the general public believe that they are the number 1 company to go with. But with everybody saying the same old thing, it's tough to decipher one business from another. So your lead ends up going around in circles.

You don't want to put your prospects through this ridiculous funnel. You will want to be there helping your prospect out in achieving their goal, or solving a problem that they have. You have to position yourself as an expert in your field, and as someone that your visitors can trust. And with a USP, you do exactly that.

I first heard about the USP from this long time (and current) well known marketer. He's been responsible for taking businesses from nothing, to million dollar businesses within a short period of time. I took this guy's advice and used it in my business, because I want to soak up everything that this guy has to offer when it comes to earning money in my business.

To separate yourself from the pack, consider offering free information. This will get you alot of leads, and the more leads you get, the more sales you will potentially get also. You can offer free information in the form of a free ebook, a free email newsletter, a free video, a free MP3 file, or alot of other options.

Once you create this "lead magnet", promote it everywhere, and use it to drive traffic back to your website. This is another way to beat the competitors in your niche. By developing your own following of people, you'll have access to an email list that could be potentially valuable to you the more you email to them.
