How Long Will It Take Before You Make Enough Money Online To Quit Your Job?

Many beginners in the affiliate and internet marketing industry want to know how long it will take them to start making enough money with their efforts to quit their job. This varies for each person, but there are a few ways to set up your plan for a specific amount of time. For the sake of this example, I am going to write as if I plan to quit my job in 6 months.

My Quick Beginner's Plan for a Full Time Income in 6 Months or Less
Step #1 - Buy a Domain
I like to buy brandable domain names without putting much thought into keywords. There's nothing wrong with an exact match domain name, but I feel there's more flexibility with a brandable domain name. For example, if I own the domain name, MyName.com (replacing myname with my first and last name), I can use it for a number of things. Personally, I am a trained teacher of golf, I've sold mortgages successfully, I'm a trained bartender, I'm a freelance writer and I've created an income large enough for me to work from home.
I can attack all of these areas, if I want, with a brandable domain name, such as myname.com. This is flexible enough for subdomains for each area. With an exact match domain name (usually just a keyword as the domain), I can really only go after whatever that specific keyword is and similar keywords. My preference is something brandable, but you can use an EMD if you prefer.
Step #2 - Create a Homepage, blog page, squeeze page and thank you page
I create the homepage to promote one to three different products in the same niche. Then, I create a blog page for all my other product reviews and general posts. My squeeze page is what I promote the most because I want to build my list. For example, I could create a hosting review site with main reviews on the homepage and other reviews as blog posts. Then, my squeeze page could give away a free guide about choosing the best hosting company.
The thank you page is where your subscribers will land after subscribing to your list. This could simply be your home page, but I like to use a separate page that promotes one specific product.
Step #3 - Build the List
The key to making and sustaining enough money to quit your day job is your list. The list allows you to promote to your subscribers over and over again. This allows you to turn one sale into multiple and capture some of the visitors that don't buy the first time and turn them into sales later. Without a list, you could lose your income overnight because of a Google update or another reason.
Your plan doesn't need to be any more difficult than this. Buy a domain name, create the necessary pages and build your list. All you need to add to this plan is a traffic source and there are plenty to choose from. Personally, I prefer content marketing, which includes article syndication, traditional article marketing, guest blogging and forum marketing. These are my favorite methods for traffic, but there are many others.
