As an internet marketer, you need to know what will work for you and what won't work for you. There are alot of people online doing all the wrong things, and because of it, their website traffic suffers and they don't get the sales and profits that they are looking for in their internet business.

If you're like me, you probably started off (and are still doing) pay per click advertising (PPC). Pay per click is fine, but it can become very addictive. Once you see all the traffic that you're getting and the opt-in subscribers that you're getting... you may feel that pay per click is definitely the way to go.

But if month after month rolls by and you haven't seen any sales yet from your PPC efforts, it's time to analyze what's wrong. And it can be a wide variety of things. Maybe your price is too high. Maybe you're getting cold subscribers. Maybe you're in a competitive niche. Maybe your email marketing isn't as effective as it should be. Or more. So you have to monitor your results when doing pay per click.

This is just one of the mistakes that alot of beginners to internet marketing make when marketing their website online. And there are much more that I haven't even discussed yet. In fact, I want to tell you about some of these mistakes so that you don't make the same mistakes that alot of rookies make. Here's another mistake newbies make:

1) Using 1 form of marketing

I kind of mentioned this before in this lesson about pay per click advertising, but you should know that there are so many different strategies that you could be using if you want to have the utmost success in your business today. PPC is fine, just don't bet the farm on it.

Instead, seek out new and creative ways to get traffic to your website. You have so many options. You can do blog marketing, video marketing, article marketing, joint ventures, podcasting, direct mail, post cards, viral marketing, and even social marketing. All of these techniques combined can bring you a slew of new traffic to your website on a daily basis. Here's another mistake newbies make:

2) Forum spamming

This is not good. First of all, you should know that a good forum can bring you alot of traffic to your website on a consistent basis. So if you mess up on a good forum and you get banned, you've just lost a great potential source of website traffic for your business. Don't ever do forum spamming.

Instead, what you will want to do is post helpful information on the forums that others will find helpful. Reserve your website promotion to your "signature". This is where you get to promote your business on the forum. But if you just blatantly blast your website all over the place... expect to get banned within a matter of hours.

You will want to avoid these 2 tips if you want to have alot of success in your business today. If you're a beginner, you should stick to the basics of marketing, and you will find that this is something that you should be doing anyway to improve your sales and profits.

Good luck with using these tips to earn more money in your business today.
