Albert Einstein was said that insanity is the definition of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. How does that really relate to making money online with affiliate programs?

When I got started with affiliate marketing, my mentor has taught me that if I wanted to earn a nice income online like he has, the very first step that I had to take was to find affiliate programs and post them on my own website. When ever a sale is made, I will get a small commission from it. So that is what I did for a few years online.
From 2007 up until 2011 I was earning the majority of my income by promoting other people's products and earning a commission every time someone decided to take out their credit card and order. Plus, I had to consistently advertise my website if I wanted to get new sales and keep the income rolling in. I could never figure out why I could not get my income to grow and grow.
While I did earn an OK small full time income online between 2007-2011, I did not know that I was insane for promoting the wrong types of programs.
See the problem with one time commission affiliate programs is that they pay you once. I worked with them for years. That was insanity but I did not realize that until one day, my income started to go down the hill.
It took me a long time to figure out that if I wanted to increase my income potential with my internet business, I had to work with the right affiliate programs.
1. They had to be programs that paid me residual income. People who would be paying a monthly fee for their membership to what ever I was promoting. I would get commissions from these people every month.
2. I had to work with programs that would allow me to earn more money from the efforts of other people. Right now the only way to do that is with online network marketing opportunities or with 2 tier programs.
Too many people are still on the path that I was back in 2007-2011 and are still wondering why they are not moving up and forward in their business and their income. If they keep doing what they have done before, they are insane and will get the same results.
