Is Product Reviews Still Very Profitable For New Affiliates And Experienced Internet Marketers?

There are a lot of people who go online and are given the hope that if they write a product review for other people's products and do this consistently, then they will steal a lot of traffic on Google when someone is searching for that particular product.
Although this was very true a few years ago when the idea of product reviews was just getting born online, it is not the case today in 2013.
I mean, if you take a look at some products out there that promote this and teach people how to build website product reviews, they show new people how they are able to build a website around one product and then write the best review ever. They show people how to do it and most of all, they show people their own income proofs so that they inspire them to buy right on the spot.
Since I have some experience online in writing such reviews, I can tell you that it is a total waste of time. I have written over 1000 of them in a matter of a few short months and today I don't make 1 single sale or get any traffic.
See, 5 years ago when no one knew about this strategy, the very first few people that did this, made a ton of money. They had no competition. There weren't other websites or people who did the same thing. They would build a niche website on Monday and had their review on page 1 on Google on Wednesday on the same week.
Then when they made a lot of money doing this, they created their own product and sold this information to a lot of people over the past few years. Even if you do get your reviews on page 1 of Google, there is a good chance that it will get slapped and be taken off and no where to be seen. Google changes its algorithms all the time.
Would I recommend this to someone who is brand new to affiliate marketing or even to those who have experience in making money online? To be honest, I wouldn't. Total waste of time. If you do want to make money with affiliate programs, you would be better off if you actually paid for traffic to make money.
