The Layout
The ideal e-mail for the purpose of e-mail marketing should have three components:-
1. The title line or headline
2. The offer or the Message body
3. A call for action or the order commands
Constructing the E-mail
Ask a copy writer and he will tell you the complexity in writing a headline. From time immemorial, copywriters have grappled with this. It is not just the grammar, or the correctness of the language alone that counts. Titles should grab the attention of the reader and he should be enthused to read further into the body of the e-mail. This applies to all writings and is not exclusive to e-mail alone. Titles need be concise in as few words as possible, but still capable of capsuling the objective of what follows. A wrongly conceived title can spell disaster to an entire e-mail marketing campaign while an innocuous looking one walks away with all the laurels. Now create the second and third parts of your e-mail with the focus on the customer. Try to talk more of the benefits that the customer can derive as also the after sales service you provide.
