If you're into opt-in email marketing, then you are taking a big step in the right direction towards making money with your product. You can do all kinds of things with an email list, and it's something that you should seriously consider if you want to blow the lid off your sales and profits. Now when building up your email list, you need traffic. I generally recommend my clients to test the niche out by using some cheap pay per click marketing (PPC), and see if their squeeze page is collecting subscribers. If it isn't, then I recommend going into a different niche where the opt-in rate is high.
