For most newbies, advertising on Google Adwords is a dream. They feel like they can use the traditional techniques of advertising by promoting a raw affiliate link in their Adwords ad, and start making money. But this isn’t true. You need a more complete strategy for getting sales.

As a rookie, you can’t afford to be losing money due to incomplete concepts about marketing online. This is why Adwords has banned the practice of inserting raw affiliate links in their ad. Before they banned this practice, people were making $10,000 and more off of Adwords alone. But Google saw that this practice provided a poor user experience for their visitors. So they had to let this go.

In today’s lesson, I want to go over another great POOR strategy when using Google Adwords. This is something that alot of people overlook, and thinks that they are doing well because their traffic is increasing - and things are “looking good”. But if you’re looking to “look good”, you will wind up losing alot of money in your business.

Here’s a poor strategy that you don’t want to do on Adwords:

- Spending alot of money on the content (or display) ads option

You can’t just agree to use the content network and let your ads run freely everywhere. You’ll go broke in a heartbeat, and nobody will respond to your offer - even if you have the greatest free offer on Earth. What will happen is that you have your ad display on all kinds of irrelevant sites, and people will click, but you won’t see any positive results.

The best way to proceed with the content or display network is to look at it as if you were advertising on a high traffic website in your niche. You only want to specify the sites that you want to advertising on. Always pick sites within your niche. Make sure the sites are running Google Adsense ads on their site. This will let you know if you can advertise on their site.

So if you sell basketball products, make sure you find relevant websites on basketball in your niche that has Google Adsense running on their website. If they do, enter the website address of this site into your Adwords account, and specify that this is the site that you want to advertise on. Don’t let the system randomly do this for you.

If you have no experience with the display or content network, stick to just having your ads show on the Google search engine. There’s nothing wrong with this, and people are making good money from this technique alone. Make sure you don’t lose too much money, and track your results.

Google Adwords is very effective, and is something that can earn you a bunch of money throughout the lifetime of your business. I highly suggest that you start using it now so that you can reap the benefits of it in terms of sales and profits.

Good luck with using Google Adwords to make you more money online today.
