Whenever I think of marketing my website, I imagine myself in my room with a dim light on just typing away on my computer. This is something that I have grown to enjoy - especially when I wake up and see sales in my inbox. If this describes you too and your love for internet marketing, then I know how you feel.

However, there are some people who absolutely detest the idea of internet marketing. These people would rather hire someone or a marketing firm to do their marketing for them, and they just want the money to come in. But what they don’t know is that, alot of people (especially marketing firms) like to do “brand advertising” to promote your business.

Brand advertising is simply the process of linking your product or business name to something iconic. This form of advertising doesn’t talk about the viewer’s problems, their goals, their dreams, and etc. Because of this, many online business owners don’t get the success that they are looking for.

Instead, I prefer “direct response marketing”, or simply “direct marketing”. All this means is that you’re putting out an advertising message that is geared towards receiving a response right away. Everything is trackable and can be tested over and over again. They usually have a 1-800 number to call, an email address to send inquiries to, or a website address to visit.

I personally feel that direct response marketing online is 300% more effective than brand advertising. And on the internet, this is absolutely true. When someone lands on your website page, you only have a few seconds to get their attention and get them interested in what it is that you have to offer them.

You have to imagine yourself running a television commercial. Make your viewers bored and they will change the channel on you immediately. Similarly online, make your visitors bored and they will click away to another website immediately. So the pressure is definitely on your back, and it’s something that you need to be aware of.

If you’re doing the kind of marketing online that doesn’t produce results now, then you’re wasting your time. It doesn’t matter how many ads your running, if you’re not tracking your ads for conversions and sales, and if people aren’t even clicking through to your website, you will wined up with a serious problem on your hands. You might even be forced to go out of business due to ineffective marketing.

Take my advice: Study up on direct response marketing online and discover why it’s much better than brand advertising. Alot of big advertising and marketing firms will tell you that brand advertising is “standard” and that it’s the way to go. But I highly disagree with that - and you will too after you shell out $5,000 to a firm that will produce zero results for you.

Your online business can succeed, just make sure you’re doing the right techniques to make your products a sensation, and don’t get stuck onto brand advertising. You’ll thank me later.
